And we kick off the march to page 300, as well as the third year of Blue Blood Heroes, without any of the main characters! Fitting, that.

Yeah, not a whole lot to say on this one, but I'm pretty happy with it. McCay looks suitably haggard throughout, and he'll be prominent over the next few chapters so this is kind of a good start to that. This is really probably more the main plot of this chapter.

If you missed it on Monday, we had a bonus image previewing things to come over the next year. If you didn't see it, be sure to back up and take a look!

Huh... Yeah, that's a good point. The plot with Fortress ultimately serves to pay off this one and this is what drives the comic for a bit, so you could make a pretty good argument this is the A-Plot and the stuff with the carnival is the B one. Not really sure what determines that though, so could see it going either way.

But yeah, was nervous about the number of panels in this one, but McCay's story is one that might require a bit of a slower form of storytelling, so tried to set some atmosphere to this. Managed to cram them in anyway.

McCay's storyline is something I'd been wanting to do for a while. Martin mentioned on Monday's comments that when I first "pitched" Blues to him it was only the six kids stripped to their basics (Jake wasn't even in the plans for it), but McCay was something that got thought up early on. Where his story's going... we'll have to find out. ^^

Oh, right, and in panel four he's too slim in comparison to his reflection. Yes, it bugs me.

Wow, McCay's not looking too good, and if he looks this sick already he's going to way worse by the time he meets the kids.
