Like the last page, I didn't really have much to do with this one, so I don't know how much I'll have to say about it. My own stab at coloring Blues in Manga Studio will first start going up on Wednesday.

What to say then... Like Andy's line in the last panel a good bit. Seems like the kind of banter I could easily actually hear in a situation like this, and it's pretty appropriate to him. Also like how much you get to see through this page, gets a lot of jumping around between the group in a short period of time.

Yeah, outside of that, not a whole lot to say here. The switch to Manga Studio's greatly improved production time it bares mentioning; WaR only has a couple of pages sitting uncolored at the moment, BP is presently caught up, and while Blues still has a lot I'm needing to color I'm making good time with it so far.

.... Does Nicky's teddy bear have a name? Crap, someone make something up! Martin, I'm including you in that.

But yeah, Jake reads to the boys too. ^^ Been meaning to show him doing so for a while, though did go back and forth on what book it would be, since I wanted it to be something different. I was big into the Oz books as a kid, but that wasn't really boy-ish enough, so settled on Treasure Island, based on the fact that my dad used to read it to me as a kid. He'd pick me up from soccer practice and I remember hearing him read from this copy on the way home. Honestly, didn't have any clear versions of the story itself, more just the sensation of him reading it to me.

The same copy of the book he used is on our bookshelf and I didn't read it until adulthood. Honestly, I actually got it out and read the thing just to see if it'd work for this one specific page (that and my computer was broken that week). I almost wanted the brief discussion in that one panel to be about how stupid Jim was to trust Long John Silver when being told to his face, "Oh, hey, there's this sailor with one leg who'll kill you for the treasure, so beware."

Also, had trouble figuring out what Andy wears to bed, since he's the only kid we haven't seen of that yet. Again, considered things before going with this particular outfit, which I think came out pretty cute. Picked the Dratini for the shirt, partly because it was easy to draw, but mostly because Dragon types are just awesome.

But yeah, really happy with this page. Love the back-and-forth, and had this scene in mind for a while. Even stuff like Grant half-listening while he reads a comic I was looking forward to. Also you'll notice it's an improvement over the last page in terms of coloring, since I'm learning to prep things for coloring better in Manga Studio. ^^

This page is adorable, and how about naming Nicky's teddy Reed?

Oooo, I could see that. ^^ Same name as my Wii, oddly enough.

I've actually never read Treasure Island, though I have read several other Robert Louis Stevenson books. I second the notion of naming Nicky's bear Reed. Also, I approve of the Dratini shirt and Andy referring to his room as the freezer.

Heheh... I guess it's Reed, then. ^^ Gladja like the page. I'm a little embarrassed that I don't even KNOW any other books that Stevenson did... Wait, unless... Was Kidnapped written by him? I read that as a kid once and looking back it's really similar to Treasure Island.

Huh. Not the best memory of that one, read it in like fourth grade, I think but enjoyed it. ^^
