Like I said, too Animal-Crossing-y. Wanted them to look like big, pissed off, dangerous predators. The re-design to make them look monstrous was really hard and had to re-draw them over and over to get something I thought worked, but very pleased with the results.

Even then, I was unsure about this whole font thing; kinda nervous about that in general. While speech balloons are (usually) fairly subtle I think specific fonts can be really distracting and take attention away from what's actually happening in the page. Still, I was really fond of the idea of them still being able to talk, just now being concerned with primal, beastly things, so needed to portray their voices as being fundamentally changed.

But yeah, had a lot of fun with the result; this fight scene was just all kinds of cool to do. ^^ I had kinda just read Batman: Court Of Owls before I started scripting so figured the owl-predator thing would be really cool to dip into, and the bear was an obvious choice... The other bloke... we'll see him on Wednesday, he turned out a little different.

Oh, right, forgot to mention this Wednesday, but Antlers' "Do you accept my power" thing.... I was kinda always a fan of that "Beetlejuice" rule where in order for a supernatural being to influence your life he needs your permission, so just felt like it'd be cool to do. Plus Antlers needed an excuse to be able to transform his own men but not his enemies, otherwise you'd wonder why he didn't turn the heroes into field mice or something.

Yeah, you see that level of detail on the owl? Like I said in the last page that's going to be really up and down through this sequence because it just took so long to keep doing it. The bear's is consistent though.

So yeah, animal fights! Actually now that Adam mentions it I'd kind of be completely okay with just devoting a chapter of one of the comics to one of the heroes playing Animal Crossing. That seems like it could be really fun.

Though it's very, very, very unlikely to ever happen because, y'know, it'd be really out of place and random. Maybe I can try a variation on that in Peach Path or something. Speaking of, I need to get back to working on that.

Well, after a healthy bit of rambling about nothing I don't think I really have much to say on the page proper. I am very happy with it though, even if recent changes we've made to the art are making it sort of weird to look back on.
