Hey, it didn't take long to see cover girl, did it?

And for that matter, that lead-in with the mountain climbing on that seguing into it here? That was totally unintentional on Adam's part though he did pretty immediately notice it. As said before, it took awhile to settle on an idea for the cover and multiple pages had already been drawn. Which is the standard for Blues, while BP and WaR tend to have them done first.

Not sure what all I have to say on this one admittedly. This town has oddly been kind of a pain to color the pages it's been in so far, I think mostly because it pretty much requires an entirely new palette plus places heavy on background tend to be both harder and less interesting for me. Which is an issue that'll be running throughout the chapter, this one has a ton of background stuff going on in it.

I do think this one is a pretty good introduction to what it's like seeing the redesigns in motion in Blues, actually. We get some immediately distinct faces from each other plus it works as kind of an interruption in things before we cut over to the group.

Actually, looking through later pages, actually might not be too jarring anyway with them, since the most radically changed of the kids, Valerie, is almost always turned to the side for the next few pages weirdly enough. The differences are also pretty readily apparent on Jake, but the night stuff kind of obscures it a bit on some of the others.

But whatever, that's jumping ahead. Anyway, yeah, think this one came out pretty well, and I hope everyone enjoys. These climbers might look vaguely familiar but if not I'll let Adam explain.

We... Kinda started drawing the art for these pages either right before or right after Smash Brothers dropped. That combined with the fact that the scripts required me to write "climber 1" and "climber 2" in the dialog a lot, I figured, "Eh, let's make 'em Popo and Nana."

In general I like doing cameos, but me and Martin have both thought ones tat come out way too obvious are sorta distracting. Trying to move away from that, so instead through the chapter all the extras are based on Smash brothers and tweaked. It's a quick way to make extras look distinct, so just something new we're working on.

I've realized now just how random of a character his is. It's very out-of-nowhere, but hoping folks'll enjoy.

Hell, just realizing this LOCATION is based off something in Smash Brothers. The Rainbow Ride stage that unfortunately got cut from Smash 4? If you pause it and zoom in, you can see a village on the cliffside in the distance. Always was weirdly fascinated with that place, wondering who lived there. Here's our answer. ^^

Smash Brothers extras, this is going to be fun, cover girl looks fine but the two people behind her don't look so good.
