Y'know, I get annoyed sometimes that the world in the comics doesn't seem bigger. Martin has been telling me to go bigger on the backgrounds and been trying it within reason. This is not remotely reasonable. This is going big.

After Abe's filler in BP where we got this great, big shot of Atlanta, really wanted something similar in Blues, so here it is. ^^ Like I said, I wanted to have a fun, happy night-chapter to show that nighttime can be really enjoyable and fun. I'm a night person in general. Conversely, it made sense to show that Stonewall had a great night-life. Getting to do the lights and the glow meant a lot. ^^

The actual population of Stonewall required a surprising deal of research. I figured Stonewall's population would be similar to Houston, so had to look that up. I originally put it halfway between Houston and Dallas at 1.5 Million. .... But then looking at the population lists of cities, discovered that would make it at least the 7th biggest city in America, which didn't feel right. Especially since this would make Stonewall way, way bigger than Atlanta, which clocks in at a surprisingly-low number 40 on the list with less than 500,000 citizens (Yeah, me and Martin were both surprised).

Debated making it about the same size as Atlanta, under Martin's advice, but while Atlanta is pretty big for its area of the country, in terms of Texas it wouldn't made Stonewall look fairly tiny (of the 20 largest cities in America, 6 are from Texas). Eventually went with 900,000 since it keeps it pretty big even for Texas but out of country's Top 10.

Incidentally, for reference I looked up the population of Gotham city to compare. It's hard to get a precise reading, but in Batman: The Animated Series, it was said to have 10 Million residents. Reasonable number.... Though Dark Knight Rises includes a brief line that said the city has 30 Million residents. In doing research on city populations I found out this would not only make it the largest city on the planet by a fairly wide margin, but that Gotham would be bigger than New York, London, and Tokyo COMBINED. Either Batman's the protector of what's basically a tiny country or the screenwriter couldn't be bothered to take two seconds to Google population sizes.

... Right. Eheh... Uh... Page. Yeah, a lot of fun with it; having a basic "template" for the extras both makes them faster to draw, better-looking, and more distinct. If you're a Smash brothers fan, try and say who's who, though will spoil that that one couple under the streetlight in the first panel are Robin and Chrom from Fire Emblem (imagine they're the parents of Lucy at the school, the baby being an expy of Morgan), and the guy in the red coat in the third is Captain N. Except a skinhead.... And.. Oh, screwit, I had the Nostalgia Critic review of that show on when doing him so there he is.

Yeah, I decided to pass on the detailing on this one because, you know, busy one and this page already had a lot going on with it in other places.

Not sure what I've got on this one myself, think Adam pretty well covered it. Page was actually weird to color in some areas, had to screw around a lot with the neon to get it to show up right. By the time I got that all figured out I just kind of didn't feel like it on this page.

I dunno, actually more I look at this page more I see little areas where I could've done better and the lack of detailing does bug me on it. Yeah, hopefully this page'll go over well but personally disappointed by it. Eh.

Oh, right, also, you guys might want to check out the new Webcomicast episode. We discuss Wotch, which had a major personal influence on Blue Blood Heroes;
