Iiii'm like a Borg, I only assimilate, I don't know why I'm speaking in singular pronouns...

Yeah, anybody remember that stupid I'm Like a Bird song? Can't help but think of that for that line. I'm sure I'm the only one. Googling it at least one person has made this reference before but surprisingly given what Trek fans are like no one seems to have actually made a song out of it. Somebody do that.

Not sure what else I've got here. Kind of an issue with trying to come up with stuff to say about this chapter, or at least this leg of it, is that a lot of the pages have the same sort of idea and the same style of visuals. I like how it's been coming out, just it doesn't give me much to talk about.

Like the bit with Nicky's eyes in the second and third panels. I think that's a pretty appropriate response to seeing your sister suddenly burst into flames, even if you're expecting it.

I wasn't entirely pleased with the joke at the end of this; I kinda wanted there to be one more panel after the Litvinenko joke that'd be funnier, but just drew a blank. Tried to do something with Grant's Superman line but didn't work out. Ah, well. If anything think Nicky ducking when Valerie learns to make fire is funnier.

Do have a lot of stuff planned with Valerie's powers in particular; I think hers might be the ones with the most applicability, and if anything think I'll have to come up with more avenues for the other kids to keep up with her. ^^

In all seriousness to Jake's warning, I can think of a LOT of super-heroes with the same or similar powers to Val whose attack strategies involve firing radiation at their enemies, which would probably give everyone on the battlefield cancer. Captain Atom comes to mind. Given he was the inspiration for Dr. Manhattan, that's probably what led to the "He gives you cancer" conspiracy in the book.

Anyway, slightly bigger topic; Uhh... Next chapter we see a lot of the student body for the Howlend Center. Matter of fact, the other night me and Martin went through and listed every single student in the school, even ones who've been seen in one panel as an extra. After ducking the question for a while, trying to finally get a handle on how many students are actually in the school. Aaand... Kinda need your help.

Way, way way back, one of our first commenters, who still reads actually, e-mailed me suggesting a kid who can shrink. I assumed he wanted the character to be part of the main team so said no, though only now, like an idiot, do I realize he meant someone around the center. Which would've been great. Could've gotten some good gags out of that.

So... Yeah. Frequent commenters (Let's face it there's nearly as many of you as I'd like), I wouldn't mind hearing ideas for students. To be realistic, they'd probably be extras and not sure how much focus they'd get, but think it'd be a way to nod to you guys for giving us all the much-needed and desired support you do.

.... One per person, please. ^^ Thank you. If you think they're too big for the comments, you can e-mail it to me at bluestarcomics@gmail.com.

I don't get the joke in the last panel at all. As for ideas for students, how about someone who can manipulate the light and shadow?

Heheh... Cuold work, but we're more looking for OCs. Asking people do make names, hair/eye color, minor backstory, ect. ^^

That guy Jake mentioned though... He's a Russian refugee who was killed by radiation poisoning, possibly on orders by Russian President Vladamir Putin.

Well the father-daughter OCs of mine who have this power it's a natural hereditary thing, but if want her description here it is; her name is Phoenix Sunrise, she's ten, tall for her age, light but tanned skin, amber eyes and white hair, not much of a backstory due to severe mental trauma and shock that turned her and her father's hair white and erased all their memories of before and during that time so their memories only go back 5 years.

For an extra, how about someone who can camouflage himself- kinda like Guy, but you can still see his outline.

Ooo, be a good visual gag. ^^ Thinking about outright asking for OCs, though. Names, looks, limited backstory, ect.

Okay, his name's Leon Matthews, eight years old, African-American (when he's visible), developed the Blue Gene at 6, kind of a jokester, though he respects his advisors (yes, even Stickset), and previously lived in Virginia with his parents.
