Yeah, I'd.... need a moment to recuperate after this. ^^

I kinda like the idea that panic is the Kryptonite of magic-based figures. Magic seems like something that would require focus and intellect, so losing your head and flailing about would naturally make you go nuts. Naturally, since one of Martin's main heroes is a witch, I made sure to run this idea by him before I could make this canon.

The shading on this page and the one after, which has everyone illuminated by the fire, was pretty hard to do. Ironically in spite of looking much more detailed the rain was incredibly simple. Which... I'm glad all you guys liked this set up; if a future chapter needs a lot of rain I need a way of drawing it that'll be very quick.

Not sure how much else there is to say on this one... Do like Jake using Grant's cape to cover his wound.... And given they were actually a hassle to draw, glad Lore lost her goggles. Yeah, those things were a big tedious and they came off after Salix put her in that bubble. Not doing those again.

Salix's origin story was.... Odd. Originally I DID have an origin in mind for him, but as we got into the chapter Martin suggested he'd be a kind of villain who didn't necessarily need an origin and worked fine being totally unexplained (compounding the tragedy that he had to be killed). Now... I have a totally different origin in mind for him that makes way TOO much sense to not be his actual origin.... But since he's dead dunno if or how I could ever write it into the comic so eh.

That yellow is way too yellow. One funny thing about the fire right now, since both comics are doing it kind of quickly getting a feel for what does and doesn't work and basically constantly readjusting the fire palette page to page as a result.

I love how both our comics have a big guy who's undergone some kind of eye trauma with a level of awareness over magic. Speaking of, need to do more Section 24 soon. Proooobably be in the next WaR chapter.

But that's WaR and this is Blues so what else have I got... Nothing much coming to mind offhand, though this page was a serious relief to do just because this fight scene's over with and the chapter itself nearly is. Quite happy with a lot of the visuals and stuff but work-wise it's been a very exhausting chapter. Don't think it's a coincidence the rate I was coloring these at increased dramatically as soon as I got to where the fight ended.
