Okay, yeah, this is a less-than-awesome reveal. Here's a more actiony shot of the new costumes.

So... Yeah, do like this style of reveal; showing things off a bit differently. ^^ Details on the costumes themselves.... As you saw a while back Martin drew up a lot of potential costumes for the kids, including one set by me. With each line-up we isolated bits and pieces of each design that we liked, what worked and what didn't, and just put together our creative thoughts of how each one should look. Finally Martin took all of those elements from each set and consolidated them into a smooth, comprehensive look for each kid. .... Except Jenny. She uh... She took a bit longer.

-Lore's costume was for the most part taking her original one and sprucing it up. Made it more showy, threw in some pink, gave it a little-girl quality to it. Appropriately enough a few touches were inspired by Trixie (especially the cloak).

-Andy's costume was based on the idea "He's a ninja" and playing that angle up to the Nth degree. The pads on his arms and legs, the scarf, the belt, the hood, all just made to scream "NINJA" much better than his old suit. Very stealthy, but at the same time has this mischievous air to it.

Grant- The white wasn't quite working so much anymore in such quantities, so made the costume darker and threw in some Gold. We experimented with a lot of different variations on superhero costumes, but he wound up with one heavily based off Superman (though notice he's got Starchild's boots). Very idealistic and proud, very "classic" hero.

Valerie- Very big sci-fi influence (and a bit fo Roman Reigns, oddly enough), looking like a galactic patrolman or something. Costume was kinda-sorta based off Klingon uniforms with rather Flash-Gordon-y boots. The shoulder-pads serve no real purpose but do imply a kind of toughness.

Nicky- Stretchy clothes were a must. Very tricky tightrope; needed to look more professional and comprehensive but also still goofy and like a sidekick. Martin's color scheme went a long way on that, plus the lines on the arms to emphasize the noodleyness.

Jenny- Jenny's design was the hardest since everyone else had a direction to take their design and an idea of where it should go, but hers was completely in the dark. She has a physical power based on muscle but a loving, gentle personality. We wound up splitting the difference; the stuff on her legs is Kick-boxing gear. Her helmet is also very detailed and would be good for a high-speed headbutt. To counteract this are the bare shoulders and very frail upperbody to show she's still girly and friendly. This is helped even more by her not wearing a mask, so you see her entire face, which looks a lot smoother than the mask-over-helmet thing. This was a much more direct process; me and Martin were just sending pictures back and forth rapidly trying to hammer out a good design until we wound up with that one.

So yeah, did like this method of revelation, and really, really hope you guys like these new outfits. Is a huge deal and really want the feedback. ^^

Yeah, we put a lot of time and thought into the costumes on this one, and ultimately wound up with this set which we're really both pretty happy with.

Think Adam pretty well summed up a lot of the thought processes here. As you can kind of see most of these are similar to designs we've previously done - Lore in particular I think already had both that costume and that cape in separate pictures and all we really did was combine them and iron out some specific details.

One thing I do find kind of funny that Adam didn't really touch on is that a big part of Jenny's costume is based on the original Starchild design - also has the leck logo thing, trunks, general shape of the cut, and all that, just with some more detail and a different color scheme. That was mostly on Adam, he largely designed the first draft of this costume then we pitched ideas back and forth until we had something concrete from there.

Going off the sneak peaks Lore had a bow in her hair and no cape and Val had fingerless gloves, also how did Andy's mask change his eye color from green to yellow.

Heh... The bow's being added onto the costume later; she gets it in the next chapter. For the gloves.... The honest answer is "I forgot to draw them in every single page so now the design doesn't have them."

Other than that, what do you think?

Oh, right, eye thing I just imagine is from a high-tech mask.
