Over the course of the chapter we've done the whole thing of the team having their personalities informed by their families. Lore and Lori's scene here was the starting point for that and wanted to work backwards from there. This was a scene I really wanted to do; Why was Lore so insistent on becoming a superhero, using her powers to help people? A lot of it comes from Lori. Part of the reason I wanted to play her up as an awkward dork was to show that in spite of that Lore still really looks up to her sister.

I had a bit of trouble making everything in the speech applicable to Lore's situation, but think it pulled off. Being gifted, feeling insignificant, wanting greatness, wanting to help people, it all sorta fit. I also wanted to emphasize that just because you HAVE a gift you shouldn't feel obligated to use it though; really wanted to avoid an Uncle-Ben style speech given the Martyr-complex Qrime Qure had. Also wanted to emphasize that if you don't think the job is right for you, you SHOULD quit. It feels like Superheroes in other comics aren't allowed that option. Like, as an in-universe community, almost.

Admittedly, it is sorta funny to me that even though they have a strong relationship, Lori is the only guardian to not seem to realize something's different about her kid since becoming a superhero. Even though Lore's dropping some pretty heavy hints. ... Well, to be fair, Grant's parents probably don't notice either.

Yeah, this is a good bit of examination of both Lori and where Lore's coming from in the whole superhero thing. Kind of appropriate things started in planning with Lore's role in all of it and worked backward given the superhero thing was her idea to begin with.

Yeah, one thing do kind of want to emphasize in this universe - when Militant Gold gets off the ground intend for it to be a recurring subject there - is that yeah, having powers does not automatically mean you have to use them to help people, and some people may not be cut out for that kind of thing.
