.... Erm... Okay, wow, LOT of folks angry at that last page. Intended reaction, and we LOVE getting you guys' comments on the comics, but still, here's a warm, sentimental page to kinda recover from it. ^^

Like I said earlier, Jake is a character who kinda works because of how little he says. He doesn't need to smile to show that he's happy or use flowing words to show that he cares about people, you can see it just through his actions.

Me and Martin have a podcast were we critique webcomics; once in reviewing the Wotch Spin-off comic "Cheer," we came across this random page of the main characters sleeping. Added nothing to the story or had anything to do with the plot, but was a really peaceful, simple image that told you a lot about each of the four main characters. We stopped talking about the comic midway into it to gush over it and wonder if we could work the same idea into WaR or Blues. This is kinda our take on it, big thanks to Martin for digging it up for me. ^^

We're just about wrapped up with the chapter so a few thoughts... As Martin said, originally the scene where Jake sits the kids down and tells them the truth about Qure was AFTER Marvelous Man had his speech to Felicia in the hospital. Was a huge improvement since that page wound up being much more of a climax to the chapter, and this one was a very satisfying cool-down from it. ^^

One thing about the chapter that seems stupidly backward.... Is it weird that the two storylines never meet? There are elements that are mirrored, yeah, but they never really intersect at any point. I mean, storytelling 101 says that if you have two separate storylines like this they meet but NNNNOPE!

You guys can watch the Webcomic review show if you want.... Just... Y'know how this is a PG comic? Be informed that the videos have a lot of swearing. .... Mostly from me.

Ugh, I should have commented on this in advance. This is. . . not the most focused I've ever been. Not by any stretch of the imagination. Reeeeally not the best night. Okay, not going to dwell on it, moving on. . .

Very happy with the page at least. Does have this nice peaceful feel to it, but at the same time this kind of underlying sadness of a sort. It's hard to describe but I kind of think this page does a lot to sort of tell you about Jake without even really actually saying or showing anything.

One more page left to go in the chapter and hopefully people will like that one. Think it's a particularly strong ending, and there is kind of a reason we opted to go with that page wrapping it up over this one despite what a good closer for Jake's stuff this is.

Wonder if we'll ever explore how Jake got those scars or not. I'd figure not, probably just one of the many weird things that's happened to him and not really worth remarking on, but I dunno, maybe Adam has something in mind there.

Wonder if anyone's tried Googling something in particular that came up earlier in this chapter. Probably not.

I've only seen the film. Should be a good book though.

The sword is not of earth origin with that blade design. Also the ancient damaged paper on the wall, more hints at his interesting past.

Three scars to find the cause of. Might do an archive binge later.

Book is one of my favorites. When I went back and re-read it a couple of years ago, I realized it had actually been a really huge influence on this comic without me even knowing it. By contrast, I could probably write an essay about why I hated the movie and how badly it failed.

Heh... But yeah, what we were implying on the bits of Jake's past. The scars weren't gained over the course of the comic though, it was during the backstory.

Also, there's only two scars. Eheh... ^^ I guess it didn't come out clear but that large one on his chest? That's hair.

Why is Lore's pony pillow colored like Derpy instead of pink and what book is Jake reading? This page says a lot about Jake's character, great job guys.

Heh. She probably has more than one. ^^ Or Derpy is so awesome, generic Pony products turn into her. Gladja liked this page.

The book he's reading is Ender's Game. Kind of a weirdly obvious choice for something to read to the kids since, when I re-read the book as an adult, I realized it had been a big influence on the comic without my even knowing it. That said, the movie was utter garbage.
