Wow, when's the last time I set up Blues? Typically since Adam's the one who has the final version of the page to work with he's the one who handles it. Only doing it this time because I happen to have the PNG and feel like it.

So, who had him really being the Insomniac in the, "Something is obviously up with Gardner," pool? Saw a few different guesses being thrown out but I don't think I saw anyone outright mention that possibility.

Speaking of, if anyone had Googled the name Randy Gardner that question would have been answered fast - it's the name of the record holder for going the longest amount of time without sleep.

This page was an interesting to color. Not hard really given it's light on heads, but I did have to do some major back and forth on the colors making everything slide right then editing on the shading and smoke and such to try and make everything line up together and look good.

We're going off into some filler for a little bit from this point. More details will come with the next update, and I'm sure Adam's comments will also provide a bit of extra information on that one. Like with WaR, the next chapter will be a Halloween one, in this case called Who Blue Truly Are.

The jury's still out on if Insomniac's going to keep the beard or not incidentally. We kind of like it both ways so haven't really decided but by all means feel free to weigh in on that.

Two observant readers (Rastaba on Comic Fury and Patricktricks on DA) were able to pick up that nobody other than Marvelous Man was interacting with Gardner. If you go back and re-read the chapter, you'll notice that nobody seems to know he's there and seem confused when Marvelous Man talks to him. Those readers didn't guess it was The Insomniac though, instead guessing it was some kind of Tyler-Durden scenario. That was as close as folks got. ^^

That said, I'm honestly really surprised we pulled this twist off. A couple of readers have actually sent messages asking when The Insomniac was coming back, one even suggesting he be used to fight Marvelous Man. Between that and the Randy Gardner name thought for sure someone would pick up on it. I studied the Gardner sleep-study when I was getting my psychology degree so it kinda felt like a huge clue.

But yeah, go back and re-read the chapter. Whenever Marvelous Man isn't looking at Gardner, he's got this piecing, calculating look on his face, as if he's trying to analyze the guy's personality. More subtle are those narration boxes that've been popping up all through the chapter; the last time we saw them were in the Insomniac's chapter, where they were used to display his telepathy. Before that, with Darkskull, the pay-off to the narration blocks was Insomniac could read Darkskul's mind and the narration boxes were his thoughts. The narration boxes show back up when Insomniac and Marvelous Man shake hands, implying that throughout this entire chapter, The Insomniac's just been reading his mind.

Insomniac's reading "No Exit", a French play by Jean-Paul Sartre, which is about three recently-deceased people being escorted into Hell. His thoughts sort of mirror my own; I was expecting something more like The Screwtape Letters and fell short. Wasn't that funny.

I wondered how The Insomniac's was going to react when he learned about MM, very interesting, great job guys.

Yeah, wanted him to come back as Marvelous Man got more popular. ^^ Hope you'll like what's coming.

See, now, I knew Gardner wasn't real. I just thought it was a powers-induced hallucination, like how The Insomniac started going nutty as his powers became stronger. To find out he actually _was_ the Insomniac. Well. Didn't see that coming. Kudos.

Same, totally pegged him as a figment of his imagination. Very pleased and excited by how wrong I was on this one! Massive praise! Massive! Well played and am eager to see where the Insomniac takes things after seeing how remorseless MM is over things.

Heheh... Really glad you like the twist. ^^ Kind of a pity there's going to be a two-week break between this page and the next chapter.

Man, hate how Comicfury nests replies. Have to add that thing just be make it clear.... Either way, if anything I was surprised how many readers were okay with thinking Marvelous Man had gone so nuts he'd become delusional. Gladja like the revelation. ^^
