Okay, replied just before posting this, but wanna say I really appreciate the comments you guys left last time. That's really what I was going for with the character and.... Yeah, that's pretty encouraging. ^^

There are a lot of times in the comic where I do the script, do the lineart, ect, and only when I get it back in color do I realize something. Like, the scene winds up having this weird, unintentional subtext I didn't notice until Martin sends it back finished (usually involving Jake, weirdly enough). When I drew this scene, I just intended it to be a brief "Yeah, that's not gonna cut it" nudge from him. When I got it back in color I realized... Yeah, McCay's probably debating letting Marvelous Man kill him.

Funny part is that while he's talking about "willpower," the reason Marvelous Man's doing as well against Insomniac as he is is that Blue Bloods have brainwaves that operate on a higher level than normal humans. That was established back in Insomniac's breakout chapter as to why the kids were partly resistant. Though Marvelous Man has no way of knowing that, hence why he's not bringing it up.

Yeah, this one's definitely eye-catching and kind of has a lot you can analyze about it, but is kind of hard to comment on that much personally.

If nothing else did kind of like getting to flex muscles a bit doing the gradually turning blue in the face while strangled thing with it. Might help that wasn't really that hard a page to do at all, in comparison to a lot of the rest of the chapter that's been pretty time-consuming.

Not sure what else I've got but hopefully everyone enjoys.

There's also the fact that where the kids are natural blue bloods, he IS only an artificial blueblood like McCay. There has yet to be anything especially establishing that he is as resistant as the kids, or merely 'so' resistant.

I gotta admit, McCay's fear sounds perfectly valid. He doesn't know. All he knows is what he has experimented with, and all he's done thus far has failed to offer him that which he is truly jealous about. The fact that he just wants to sleep.

Also McCay really needs to shave, and take another shower, before his date! Meanwhile MM needs to start asking questions of those 'patriots' who have him so bought in. That told him he was the first adult blue blood and clearly lied.

Maybe once he is actually informed of a truth beyond 'I strangle this apparent bad guy and they pass out for the cops to handle' he might actually start to seem like at least an overly arrogant super powered being. Instead of a terrifyingly arrogant and self-absorbed super powered being.

Let's see MM put that 'gumption' of his towards getting some answers instead of assuming people who have clearly lied to him are telling the truth on everything; like that he's the unimpeachable perfect hero.

Heh. Well, the thing about Marvelous Man is is that while the strangling thing IS kind of his typical MO, he does switch to other methods of combat if that doesn't work out. Just ask Decay Conductor.

As for Marvelous Man being less powerful than the kids, I'm not sure.... I imagine he's probably got the same level of resistance that they do, it's just he also doesn't have the benefit of being six people that McCay would have to focus on all at the same time.

In the end though that raises more questions...for example if his resistance really is only, shall we say, on par, with the kids, does this mean in the end an adult blue blood IS only as powerful as a natural blue blood child? Whose powers have demonstratably grown stronger and WILL without a doubt grow stronger the older they get and more they used them/figure them out.

Which begs the question of how powerful MM would be strength-wise compared to Lore when she grows up. Or how fast he'd be compared to Grant in flight. As well as if their resistances would increase as they continuet o mature and develop mentally...there's a LOT of questions that premise alone raises, even taking into account MM is only one person. versus six.

Heh. He mentioned anesthesia, I dunno if a coma will work either.

Poor McCay, no matter what he tried he stayed awake, what in the world going to happen now.

Yeah, I wanted to bring up that he tried really bizarre, out-there methods to fall asleep, or even just lose consciousness. ^^ Do hope you'll enjoy the next one.
