..... Yeah. That's illegal.

I repeat readers; you have rights. If you take part in a study, you're required by law to know the purpose of that study (unless it's something that could only be conducted by deceiving the participants, such as how they react to an unexpected factor). Say for example you were participating in a study that would've allowed elks to wear gentleman's trousers; the researchers are required by law to disclose the overall purpose so that if you had a personal objection to it ("Elks wearing trousers?! It's science run amuck!") you can choose to withdraw your participation.

Knowingly taking the samples from the kids for this exact purpose and not disclosing it to them or their parents is 100% illegal and sort of "taints" all of the fruits of their research. Not only would the school likely be shut down over this, but all researchers would have any medical licenses revoked and Marvelous Man would not be allowed to continue being a superhero.

Okay, granted, that last one is a little unclear given the laws involving super-heroes are entirely fictional. I guess for this to work you just need to assume that if you acquire your powers through illegal means then you're not legally allowed to use them. The Ultimate universe had laws around those lines...

In the script for the last page, Jake only got a love-tap from Marvelous Man, and kinda was sorry I missed it given I liked the idea of calling back to it (he tends to do that to people who annoy him). But then I wrote this script and just loved the image of Jake being in pain, wiping blood off on his knuckles, and slowly getting to his feet, so made the hit in the last page more painful.

Wanna say as an aside that I don't typically show off the linearts (i.e. uncolored pictures) because I honestly don't think they look that good before Martin handles them. This is an example of that; I thought the shots of Lore crying and being comforted by Jake were okay-looking in the lineart. When I got the colored pages back from Martin it hit me right in the feels. It just came out adorable. ^^

Honestly I've really been wanting to try and go into some of the specifics of becoming a superhero and general standards they have to go through and the like, big holdoff really being that it's something both of us would need to sit down and really go a lot into. WaR's touched upon some of it a little and whenever I get Militant Gold off the ground it likely will as well, but I would like to kind of get a more general and readily-available overview out there for everyone to see.

Good image there at he end of everyone all banded together and going from worried and depressed to a bit more firm and direct. Works well with Jake kind of standing up to Marvelous Man and making it clear he's not going to bend on this issue - just happy with it all around.

Kind of wonder to what degree Jake choosing to set his hand on Lore's hand is comforting her and what is just using her to pull himself up. I'd really say it's probably a bit of both - probably mostly telling himself the latter but he does have alternative options available, like using the wall or reaching for Grant to pull him up or something.

I'd choose now to be coy about Jake's bit in the last page about having friends in high places but we already know he at the very least is friends with the queen of the pixies so that's kind of a good indicator that you really have no way of knowing what's up with the guy.

Using generally, not the issue. Using for the intended function of law enforcement that would be illegal. He would be lucky to be allowed to do normal police duties acting like a soft squishy human. He may loose the job or be restricted to doing paperwork.
Intent rather than side effect. MM didn't do the research and wasn't aware of the issue therefore use by him for personal use or in another line of work may be legal.
He will lose the job and may lose the powers depending on specific complaints though they would be hard pressed to argue he can't use them.

Wait, that kinda depends on if his powers are removeable or not (I'm not being coy; speaking as the author I GENUINELY don't know if they are). If they're not I dunno how legal it is for him to go out since he'll always be bulletproof. .... I guess he could get a desk-job?

I wanna meet more of Jake's friends. I am also super pleased to know Jake has real ammo ready to bear blackmail wise. And Jake's final line was priceless.

Heh... Yeah, really was proud of how cool that last bit came out. ^^

As I said in the last page. I hope it all comes crashing down for MM. Really don't like him.

And I said that I'd be happy if his powers were stripped.

EDIT: It's probably supposed to be "Use" or "Can't be using" in the 6th Panel.

I assumed that it should be "can't keep using". However, I usually prefer listing typos by e-mail. People will get very confused reading this after it is fixed.

Heh. Nah, people can just read my reply saying I fixed it. ^^ But yeah, imagine you enjoyed Jake's particular push-back here, then.
