Heh. This one's kind of a weird page to comment on, given it has Alex simultaneously being all consoling and close while at the same time it's being played for laughs by having him totally misread the situation. Kind of an awkward tonal shift but one I think works.

Not entirely sure what to say here since a lot of what is coming to mind is more rooted in what comes later, but I do at least like getting to go the dark humor route with this for a minute. Kind of feels appropriate if only because Blues has been a little bit of a downer lately with the way a lot of the chapters have been going.

Heh. Yeah, this was a thing that's kinda both serious and funny. In particular love Alex's serious face as he directly asks "You killed a man, didn't you?"

Really awkward part is that Alex isn't joking here; we've mentioned in WaR that at times in this universe heroes DO need to use lethal force. It's kinda in-character for Alex to misread the situation like this.

Can I say that doing this alongside the current WaR chapter was really bizarre. Partly because these pages were drawn alongside the ones with Alex revealing he knew who Chris was and encouraging Ropun, and here he's encouraging another shy person dealing with some stuff. Plus in WaR he was playing up the girliness hard and here he's back in jeans for the first time in a while? In general it's kinda weird for me switching between outfits in comics, this one was especially jarring.

If it makes Alex feel better, they did kill a tree was sentient and technically Spencer's the one that lit the poor sucker up but still. Does killing an evil sentient tree turning supers into zombie puppets count as killing someone? I am seriously asking.

Heh. Good question; not sure. Doubt that counts for the kids, though. Not only was Spencer the one to light it up, but the kids were in favor of letting it live even after it confessed to wanting to kill all of mankind.
