Heh. It's kind of a shame; one of the things I was looking forward to for this prison were seeing all the caged super-villains and thinking up headcanons and backstories for them, but really only happens in two pages. Ah, well. Still had fun with what little we saw. That puppet-supervillain in particular is a send-up to the Thin White Duke in puppet form from David Bowie's Love Is Lost music video. We also have an Aryan partly based visually on Kuvira from Korra, and a muscular gentleman in a wheelchair. Finally a gentleman who's not only hung up a picture of Martina Ferguza in his cell but has carved a "Revenge List" on the wall that includes the name "Rayne." I guess Xandy was the one who arrested him.

Like Blake, I don't really have anything to say about the politics of this entire situation. The idea of super-powered individuals being given harsher prison sentences is, once again, NOT meant to be an allegory for anything. It's just something I genuinely think would happen in a society where people have super-powers. Funnily enough a fan who was pitching ideas for the prison name (Jax Gonzales!) brought up how super-villains probably don't get parole often, which made me feel a lot better about having that be canon in-universe. It helps that you can't really apply problems with the for-profit-prison-system in real life to a universe with supervillains. In that scenario a privatized prison system would almost be a necessity to effectively jail prisoners.

I genuinely am not sure yet on what we'll do with Lost Sands going forward, but will say that no matter what happens the place is NOT meant to be a cardboard prison. Actually, hell, think one reason I wanted to do this chapter showing the prison side of things is I really kinda roll my eyes at the sheer incompetence prisons have in comic books. Even as a huge Batman fan, I don't think I've EVER seen anything where Arkham's workings made even the least amount of sense ... I mean come on, OCD constitutes Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity? Who replaced Harvey Dent as DA? Ralph Wiggum?

What's funny is main thing my mind is going to with this page is that it's the one I used for a test of something for down the line. Can't really say more and it's not present in the version of the page actually posted, it's just sort of funny.

This one actually wound up being kind of a slog to color comparatively, had to jump through some hoops on it. I do like the end results of it though.

On the Martina thing, the way it was drawn it was just a random figure we couldn't see anything in particular of. But there was a dividing line down the middle, I guess for a jacket, and that's what made me think to specifically turn it into her. Seemed like just a good chance for a cute little nod.

So yeah, long and short of it is just that this is more in the way of world-building - whole lot of that going on within this chapter. And within the next WaR chapter funny enough, though in some different directions there.
