Heh... Yeah, back to these two talking the business. ^^ Lot of fun with that.

Great, scatterbrained at a lot to say on this one... Lemme start off by showing the non-sepiatoned version of that one panel. One of those deals where we liked both versions so we have to show the regular version off somewhere.

These were kinda some questions I had in retrospect after doing the crossover chapter; why DID Alex react so casually to the kids? There's your answer; he doesn't really care about having a license. And Alex, probably by his own admission, isn't the best role model, so he really doesn't care that they were all in grade school. One line I wanted to have in here but now I guess didn't make it in was "I dunno, you seemed to know what you were doing."

One aspect to the job me and Martin have wanted to get into is that getting a super-hero license is entirely too easy and there's been a problem with unqualified heroes who don't know what they're doing crowding cities. It's something that's gonna get more focus in the future but was neat to examine here. The idea of the test doing very little to actually prepare you for the job was specifically something Martin had in mind for it. I also really love the idea of even people within the super-hero community trying to figure out how to raise standards and not coming to a consensus. I imagine a lot of those meetings end in fist-fights. Probably started by Ivy.

Speaking of, that panel was just fun to do in general. Genuinely wasn't expecting Qrime Qure to be part of the discussion, he just showed up. Also that one Cresselia extra we've seen a lot is back; we see her with Darkrai a lot, imagine those two are married and the boy she's got here is her stepson. He's an Umbreon, by the way. The one hero sitting next to him in the Knight-looking costume is based off Taka from Danganronpa.

From that panel there's also Firefly, who's in the process of storming out.... And that one in the helmet with her back to the camera... We'll see that character again shortly.

Funny thing on that one person Adam mentioned with the helmet - we hadn't quite settled on her design yet at the time the page was drawn so I actually had to edit it into the one we settled on in coloring.

But yeah, this is pretty much where we really get into the whole angle of the politics of being a superhero and some of the general outlook on the profession. That's something we really want to explore a lot in the comics - whenever I get Militant Gold up and running that is a MAJOR part of the premise with it - so it's definitely good to be able to brush the surface and go into some of the specifics of it here.

That said I'm kind of not really clear on when or if this group meeting actually happened? I dunno, maybe Adam has other plans for it but I prefer to kind of interpret this as sort of a metaphorical depiction of the events than some actual meeting that occurred at some point.

This page actually took me a really long time to color. Sepia was actually kind of the easy part since I just colored the panel in normally then converted it, it was really more just it's a busy page with a lot of new heads and a lot of people we haven't seen in quite awhile.

I hope they come back to the subject of 'license qualification', because it's an interesting subject with so many possible answers. I mean, the easiest solution would be to just have multiple tests for multiple types of tests for different types of heroes.
