Heh.... Yeah, more cool, ominous stuff from Nine Eyes. Martin said a key part of his character was needing to be feared and hated so tried to sell it that not being immediately respected by this group of children would've immediately pissed him off. He has to kind of sell himself as the big bad guy right away, not just to get the spell, but to get respect.

To that effect, the original version of this speech was much more try-hard-y, but Martin asked me to tweak it since it came off like a twelve-year-old on X-Box Live. I just reeled it in a bit so it came off as pushy but not pitifully desperate.

That said, I do love Nine Eyes's ".... Are you Serious?" reaction.

One thing I'm kinda enjoying abuot Nine Eyes is the super-bulky "Fluffy" body he's got with the fur cape and clothing and the skinny, almost scrawny puppet limbs. Probably gonna play that up in pictures going forward.

Yeah, this one I did ask for some alterations to, that and another thing being a line about Nine Eyes' origins that I didn't feel comfortable with committing to. Typically I just kind of let Adam do whatever with writing my characters but hey, guess it happens sometimes, huh?

Granted Nine Eyes even in-universe really is supposed to be something of a try-hard. One thing you'll have probably noticed with him if you've read through Black Princess to now is each time he shows up he has some new twist - first time he was wearing a clown mask that quickly got ditched and din't have the purple, then he added the chunks of Sareena and Misty's hair and switched to a red open-mouthed clown mask with a grin painted over his mouth, now on to this look. Even in universe the idea is that he's constantly trying to look scarier - as indicated by Gwendolyn taunting over him over that not quite working out in this case. That's part of why I don't tend to have Sareena and Misty take him that seriously though as being demonstrated here, maybe they should.
