Lessons in magic with Jake and Vespi! ^^

I dunno if I've mentioned this in comments yet or not, but I've left the movie theater and now have a calm, relaxing job at a bookstore. Will comment after I get in from work tonight. ^^

Ugh. Smash Bros. leaks have me in a bad mood.

Whatever, now dwelling on that. Either way, pretty happy with this one. Does a good job just kind of laying out some ideas on the exact mechanics of magic within this world and how it slots into things.

Not sure how much else I've got to say offhand mostly because a lot of the things that stand out to me with this page are from things that are planned to come up in more detail later. Although if you want more information on how magic works in this universe you could check out this old WaR filler, which also has some Blues cameos -

Heheh.... Yeah, this was a conversation I kept meaning to put in the last chapter and never got around to. Basically this is just my own thoughts on how magic would/might actually work in relation to science. Most people propose that magic would function as a form of religion, but I like the idea of it being an art form like music or painting. Something that's a subjective way of interpretting and interacting with the universe but still requires practice and study and is informed by schools of thought.

I'm also trying not to make Val that one character you always see in stories who's all "Magic doesn't exist." Because she's technically minded she doesn't grasp the subject that well, but she's not going to deny it's real. She's already seen evidence for it from Vespi and has gone through a forest to recover a spell; be pretty far-fetched she wouldn't believe in it NOW. But her attitude does show that magic can come more easily to some people based on viewpoint.

Jake's "I'm just bored" line was a last-minute addition because of an oversight in the lineart. Weird how that happens sometimes. ^^

...magic bunny...MAGIC BUNNY!!!

Also I like this view on magic. And I look forward to how their attempts to explore their magic will affect their upcoming fight.

Heheh... THanks a lot. ^^ That means a good deal; really had been thinking about the nature of magic for a while before writing this.

Of course the magical girl fan would be the first one to show results while the sci-fi nerd would have the hardest time with it, wonder what's going to happen next.

Eheh... Yeah, fandoms do inform mindsets to an extent... ^^ Helps that I've been trying to make Valerie the more scientifically-minded one of the group too. Hope you like what's coming up.

Hrrm. Given that Blue bloods are basically magically locked on one spell, I wonder what them learning actual magic would do... I predict breaking their own powers for a bit until it snaps back to normal, the utility of that might vary on the power in question though...

Heheh... Would be interesting, but dunno if that'll quite happen. ^^ Maybe they'll just learn magic on top of the powers they already have.
