I was seriously NOT prepared for how adorable this page came out. Just... D'awww. ^^ So much cuteness on this one.

Heheh.... Yeah, this was something that we debated for a long time; letting the kids learn magic would be realllllyyyy broken given their pre-existing power sets, but thought abuot how to impliment it without being too heavy. In particular think it'd compliment Andy's stealthy-ninja motif nicely. We'll have to see it as it goes forward.

In general Andy being a bit underpowered compared to the others is why we'd been thinking for a while about giving him a weapon. A staff was just a sort of natural fit for him, especially a magical mystical staff carved from a made-up metal.

But yeah, that's it for Vespi. Might be a bit before we see her again, but doubt she'll stay away for too long. Kinda did wanna emphasize that she's got other responsibilities, hence why she could only pop in and out to tutor the kids here. Also, while the kids don't have any more of the materials to make Fontainium on hand, they still have the spell and could potentially make the material again. This is gonna be a thing going forward; have quite a bit in mind on that.

Nicky is a bit disappointed here, but didn't wanna dwell on an inferiority complex TOO heavily. I think it's just part of his character arc anyway, just giving it a tiny bit of spotlight. ^^ I really looking at him get really pouty, and gives him a great opportunity to be cute.

This one bordered on being kind of disastrous. I thought there was an extra page sitting colored so was kind of putting this one off, then had to drop everything and rush to wrap it up with like three hours go to before submitting it. Fortunately was a decent ways in already.

Still, I'm pretty happy with the end result here. Some good reactions going on and a good bit of the group just getting to pay off of each other.

For the record my kind of personal reading of things is that Vespi's probably helping stabilize the group's abilities here and probably chipping in a bit with the magic. Kind of figure this would be out of the realm of someone's first go at it, even for people who take to it quickly.

And yeah, that's probably it for Vespi in this chapter but we'll likely see her again before too hugely long.

This seems more like alchemy than an actually magical spell, very, very interesting, wonder what's going to happen next.

If I had to guess, in this instance alchemy is basically a ‘chemical reaction’ only the catalyst sparking the change happens to be...well, the magic used. Mind you given we are talking about magic which is an entirely subjective entity alchemy to someone else might just wind up closer to a science as that is how they perceive the magic as being.

That’s a rabbit hole I’d prefer not to dive down though.

@Wolfintina, Actually, yeah, it kinda is closer to alchemy, just the event is triggered by magic. There's kinda no real REASON for this chemical event to take place in scientific terms, it was just triggered via a spell. ^^ Hope you'll enjoy the next page.

Yay! Our monkey boy now has a magic staff! He just needs a pain collar circlet and a magic cloud to ride on!

I wonder if Martina would let him have one or teach him how if only to lord over him how superior her powers are.

HA! I wasn't even thinking of the Sun Wukong connection when I gave him a staff. I was probably thinking more of Tim Drake as Robin... But yeah, the cloud-thing is actually pretty easy to picture for him; be a quiet, relatively-stealthy way to get around.
