Heh. Credit where it's due; I really don't think I would've done this scene if all you folks in the comments didn't ask what would happen if these two characters met. Kinda just didn't occur to me.

Sorry if the effect is a bit disappointing, but I did like playing more into the idea of C.A.N.D.L.E. being joke villains. To the point that MM doesn't even recognize their existence.

This also gets across something I was trying to imply with Emma; she's not really a bad person. She does ignorantly oppose people with super-powers and magic, but there's no real hatred or malice. I think the other members of her group ARE genuinely hateful and bitter, just not Emma herself. I was kinda only attached to the idea of having a group like this as long as they could be harmless Joke villains (we have more than enough loathsome, militant hate-groups in real life) and having a leader who's hopelessly bumbling and nice is what keeps them in the category of love-to-hate losers.

Plus it was weird to realize we hadn't done this joke of using the text-boxes to cover up someone else's dialog before. Given how self-centered and involved Marvelous Man is and how long we've been using those little yellow boxes (Deadpool should sue!) it's weird we haven't done it yet.

I think I might reveal what Emma asked Marvelous Man to do later in the chapter. She's turning out to be very ripe for Brick Jokes. ^^

Yeah, pretty happy to see Emma again, do really like getting to do stuff with her. All the screentime she gets in for the moment but we'll probably hear from her later.

Funny thing is I'm not sure how much I've got to say here just because most stuff coming to mind relates to what it is she was saying. Actually was written in in the script, not just random text to fill the box while being covered up. Adam actually edited the dialogue placement before posting to cover it more than it was.

Also this is where my mind immediately went on the fourth panel.

Yay! C.A.N.D.L.E.! I want to know so badly what he just agreed to unknowingly! While moronically doing the one thing telepaths are NOT supposed to do, without some sort of assistance by a better trained one or mechanical asssitance. You NEVER open your mind to every mind in a large area at once. It’s like he is asking to have his brain scrambled with too much coming in at once...after being SO proud he could turn it off and tune junk out!

Heheh.... That's a possibility, yeah. ^^ Curious what you'll think of what's coming.

Yep MM's forgotten about the kids and Jake for the time being, wonder what's going to happen next.

Heh. Honestly I don't think the kids are high on his priorities now. He's got all the power in the world; he can just handle the situation at his leisure.

Can we get a transcript of the blocked text? Or is that going to be part of a surprise later?

Wellll, that last one where she's asking something out of him is, but we'll probably get to that later. The ones before that, lemme see....

Emma: It's so great to meet you! My name's Emma Constance, leader of this city's chapter of C.A.N.D.L.E! I just had to see you when I heard about this charity event.... Listen, our organization is about repairing the fear and terror people have felt with the rise of super-powers and magic, and we think that legalized super-heroics are one of the major causes to that fear!
Marvelous Man: (Thought Box) Aiden Frost.... Was it someone I met here in Stonewall or... I've been to cities across the country by now, he could be anywhere....
Marvelous Man: (Thought Box) Maybe just some kind of assassin I've never met.... God, what did he have planned.
Emma: But even though people are really frightened and afraid now that powers are all around them they don't KNOW they're frightened and afraid yet. It's been a huge problem; how are we supposed to convince them to get involved if they don't realize how unhappy they are?
Marvelous Man: (Thought Box) If he's in Stonewall... Hm... Wait, I've read the minds of whole crowds of people right?
Marvelous Man: (Thought Box) What if I just read the minds of everyone in Stonewall.... I mean, that would turn the guy up really fast, wouldn't it?
