Comment after work, but I'm genuinely proud of how Marvelous Man can in the course of a single page be kinda sympathetic and also monumentally, horrifically selfish. Over the course I drawing this I went from genuinely feeling bad for him to realizing this is one of the worst things he's ever done.

Kudos to WWE for finding a way to make me irritated with a Daniel Bryan title win. Hey, nice change of pace complaining about wrestling on Blues instead of WaR for once, huh?

On the subject of heel turns...

Yeah, had to know Marvelous Man having that moment of snapping like in the Decay Conductor fight was coming. Think it works pretty well for kind of showing a switch being flipped here - he has a perfectly fine moment to stand down and just be the better man and now here's where he opts not to do it.

Think this is also a pretty good moment for Grant. Probably kind of poorly thought out on his part, but I think it does a lot to show just how genuinely optimistic and good-hearted he is that he genuinely thought this would work.

Good thing they wrote down the Fontainebleu stuff first thing, huh?

Huh... Work was fun tonight then come home to this page.... Really fond of this one. ^^ Like I said, really like how bizarrely-sympathetic it is for Marvelous Man to have that moment when he realizes he's basically lost everything he had. Even if he does deserve it, there's this kind of weird tragedy when you think how much better his life and the lives of others might've been if he wasn't... y'know... like him.

The exact moment where Marvelous Man realized he was being filmed was soemthing I debated about for a bit, in fact actually happened much earlier in an unused draft a few pages ago, but was never sure just how to portray his reaction. Once I hit on this one I got attached and knew this is how it'd have to go.

Obviously like Martin and a lot of you commenters mentioned, this was happening. That bit in the Decay Conductor fight where he flips out and goes berserk was entirely there so he could later do this in his fight with the kids.

I was split for a while as to who should make this speech, Grant or Jenny, but I liked the idea of the former having this misguided idea that Marvelous Man might stand down once he realizes what's happening. Originally I was going to have a moment in this fight where Grant goaded Marvelous Man into flying really high over the city and then doing something to break his concentration enough to make him fall all the way back down. It didn't work out, so this wound up being his big moment in the fight instead. I like it, feels very him. ^^

So.... Yeah. Now the fighting REALLY starts..... Heh. I just noticed Grant's little "...eep." face in the last panel.

I saw this coming, but it is still scary non the less.

I like the stuff with Grant on this page, he differently embodies the stuff that makes a superhero here.

why'll MM in this page and others he differently embodies a lot of thing that makes him villain.

And to me would not call Grant's plan poorly thought out for the most part, he does not know how massed up this guy is.

He probably thought once he got MM to stop and listen MM would do the right thing, not go ape shit.

I agree whole heartedly. Grant’s definitely embodying true noble hero here. Trying to get the villain to stop hurting people, to be good. Absolutely. Unfortunately I also gotta agree, MM is just messed up. Mind you, that’s been my opinion for awhile but I kinda hoped he’d just blue screen of death himself in shock and go along quietly.

A lot of the kids embody what it means to be a superhero or hell just a hero.

But it's Grant who stands out on this page, that embodies everything that makes a superhero,

Makes me think of the brief hope spot for jasper in Steven universe. when she was going on about being broken and at the bottom. and like jasper Marvelous man isn't accepting it's over.

Called it.

Yeah, MM has definitely gone off the deep end here. If Grant knows what’s good for him, he’d better start flying.
babygirl 14th Nov 2018, 1:56 PM edit delete reply
sadly MM was all ready off the deep end a long time ago.

Grant’s plan wasn’t that poorly thought out. He honestly believes MM wants to be a TRUE hero and just needed someone to help him take stock. He’s not the one with the mental powers to know just how messed up MM really is, so honestly he would have no way of knowing.

It’s just MM doesn’t care about being a true hero. Not anymore at least, if ever truly. Right now, all he cares about is his perfect little world where everybody believed he’s the perfect good has been shattered and what he doesn’t care about is who he had to hurt to get there.

A perfect little world our true blue heroes just made him realize is gone...Yeah, Grant May want to test what his top speed and acceleration are right now.

I don't know if that's is entirely true, I mean MM did help his little sister go to college and he did join the army, maybe not entirely the right reasons, but he still did.

And he may have helped save people, so that good. I still think its the powers them selves that mutated his bran, making him more of an asshole.

The kids didn't ruin your life you ruined it yourself MM you brought all of this upon yourself, this fight is about to take a very dark turn.
babygirl 14th Nov 2018, 2:02 PM edit delete reply
indeed. Now there is nothing holding MM back.
