It's the 700th page and the fight is over! Yeah, seems like a pretty appropriate place to finally bring this arc that's been running for ages now to its head.

Yeah, it was always intended for Nicky to be the one to finally bring Marvelous Man down, although the exact circumstances of it were at a point going to be very different. Really more Adam's place to go into that one, there's a lot to dissect there.

Really it can be pretty amazing to think about just how much time we've put into these things over the years and just how many pages we've done. This is page 700 here, counting Black Princess and Wright as Rayne together we're in the 960 range at the moment, and that's not even getting into filler and covers and such.

Of course, chapter isn't over just yet, we've still got some fallout to deal with. Hopefully everyone enjoys what's to come, given there's no shortage of loose ends at the moment...

Whew.... Yeah, jeez, this arc was WAY too long. Said it before, but really, really trying to cap the one that comes after it. Shooting for way, way shorter. But yeah, he's down. Finally down.

Was actually planning on a huge, additional page of just his unconcious body as a way of conveying that yeah, he'd finally gone down, but didn't like how it was coming out when drawing it, so that part got scrapped. Either way, happy with this final page. Nicky being the instrument of defeat was, as Martin mentioned, the plan for a long time. It's part of the gag of him being the only member of the team Marvelous Man didn't get the powers of. At one point I think the plan was for him to wrap entirely around Marvelous Man like a rubber suit, strangling him. This felt more desperate and just simpler, which made it kinda more far-fetched that it'd work.

Just yeah, I wanted this victory to feel earned. Like, most of the team has been hurt at some point, everyone's tired and afraid, they had to sacrifice their anonymity, but they did finally defeat the enormous, undefeatable foe. Not much to say, but very happy with how this entire fight's turned out. ^^

...that is honestly a pretty terrifying move out of Nicky. Like kudos on the kids for thinking of it, but...still that is a frightening application of his power set, and not one I expect he will want to have to repeat ever.

Nice move on Val’s part apparently remotely redirecting MM’s blast towards herself. Did not think she could pull off a lightning rod-like thing but man is it cool that she can. Key point being lightning rod-LIKE as I recognize that is visibly not lightning.

And...that’s really all I honestly got for this page. I look forward to all the messy aftermath to come about for our TRUE Blue Blooded heroes, and to hopefully more loopy Lenore in the future!

Edit!! I also found out this page is apparently uploaded in ‘True Blue Filler’ instead of Blue vs Gold.

Second edit!!! It just occurred to me that there is a dark sort of poetic justice to beating Marvelous Man this way. In case ANYBODY has forgotten, his own favorite way to win a fight is choking out his opponent.

You’re right, MM- heroes never lose. But it’s quite obvious you’re no hero.

A rather unsanitary way of achieving victory but whatever works, you're no hero MM, you never were and you never will be, wonder what's going to happen next.
