So, guessing not a lot of people saw THIS reaction coming from the Strines. The hugging I mean, the shouting match was pretty much inevitable.

Yeah, most of the next few pages are going to be summarizing the parents' (and Lori's - funny enough just colored that one at the time of setting the page up) reactions to all of this. There is a lot to put over there and we did really want to cover it, albeit in somewhat abridged format given we have other things we want to get to.

Related note we kind of wanted to go into some more detail on what it's been like for Valerie staying with Heather, but we're kind of unsure at the moment whether or not it's going to get the chance to come up.

Although that said my personal interpretation is that Nicky's somewhat misreading the situation here. It's probably better for all parties involved that Valerie stays away for the moment, certainly, but I don't really think they'd actually turn her away if she wanted to or had to go back. Adam might have a different take on that though and he is the writer after all.

Hmm... I dunno, I hadn't considered that. I think maybe Nicky could be mis-reading the scenario, but dunno if that's much of an exaggeration on his part if so. It probably IS for the best that she's staying with Heather. I know Valerie and her parents don't have a great relationship but they're still her parents and still love her.

One aspect of this I hope people'll notice is that Val's parents ARE regularly visiting her at the Urns and are staying in town to be close to her rather than flying immediatley back to Arizona with Nicky in tow.

OH! Speaking of, it only came up once in a Filler, but Valerie, Nicky, Jenny, and Grant aren't from Texas and were born in other states. I kinda meant to bring it up more, and it gets touched on in all cases that their families aren't originally from Sapphire City.

Speaking of, I'm really loving the new name. I realized the other day just how many times I'm putting it into the script for this chapter. Sapphire City. Sapphire City. ^^

Honesty to me Val’s parents seem like they don’t really love her at all, or at the very least don’t like her.

I mean when they came for parents day at the school it feel like they only ever wanted to see Nicky at Val, and when they see her it was by accident.

It wound not surprise me when or if the school gets reopened, they just leave Val there and just take Nicky home.

And I know Val’s powers are dangerous, but so are Nicky’s powers, not as dangerous as Val’s but again still dangerous. All so in page 30 of chapter 16

Tangled Up In Blue. Val’s dad did say,

“Well…. Like We said She… She’s dangerous.”

He did not say her powers are dangerous; he said she was dangerous, like she is some sort of animal and not his kid.

And Val’s mom did say.

“Valerie can be so mean.”

And why’ll on page 31 Val did kind of say she was a butt head in the past, she has changed. But Val’s parents only visited with Nicky I mean did her parents ever come to the school before Nicky became a BB?

I still think Val could be.

A: Nicky’s haft sister.

Or B: She was adopted from a family member who was put in jail or died.

Those are the only reasons I see on why Val’s parents are dumbasses.

I hope you would do a little comic about Val staying with Heather, as well as a page or two on what Val and her parents are yelling about.

Anyway I am open to talking about what I said to other fans or to the makers of this comic.

Erm... Okay, lot to unpack here. Eheh...

I can confirm that Valerie and Nicky are full siblings and erm... Kinda didn't mean for the Strines to come off quite this bad (Kinda curious what you'll think of another pair of parents later). I think they do love her, but are aware that her powers are dangerous to herself and those around her.... and seeing her blast MM with a mega-blast on national TV probably didn't help matters.

This kinda owes to stuff I meant to bring up but haven't yet. When Valerie first got her powers (age 6-ish) she had zero control of them, which painted a pretty stark picture. Also, it's been mentioned occasionally that Val used to pick on Nicky a lot before he came to live with her at the center. I think that's part of why they started a shouting match in this page; they're just kinda sliding back into old roles.

On an unrelated note, Lore saying “I hope so” to the “parents reaction” quip suggests that while she and Lori are officially living together, her parents are still out there. Am I right in assuming that they were abusive?

Eheh.... No, Lore's parents are definitely dead and not in the picture. ^^ "I hope so" just means she hopes nobody else reacted as bad or worse than the Strines.

Ah, okay. ...actually, now that I think about it, that's extremely morbid. Do the others know about her parents not being in the picture?
