Heheh... Yeah, shortest chapter in the entire comic. Enjoy, folks?

This chapter was a big different, but very happy with it. Whole thing is very tight and close to just focusing on what the kids are going through while also setting up for the next chapter. Rather happy with the writing going how it did.

Going to try to keep a cap on the other chapters in this arc too; after the Marvelous Man arc ballooned comically in size I want to experiment with keeping things tighter and more controlled. I dunno, feels weird for me to talk about the writing quality of this comic....

Me and Martin discussed for a while who should be going where, and dithered on it a bit. Jenny and Valerie going to Vespi's realm was the most obvious and was a pairing that seemed fun as soon as we thought of it. Andy and Nicky needing to be on their own opened up the avenue for stealth-stuff and would just be fun to mess around with... Grant was always gonna be the one to go meet the Peacekeepers, but who went with him wasn't Lore until Martin pointed out that she was the group's leader. I don't portray that enough in the writing since Jake honestly fills that role a decent amount, so imagine she'll be stepping up now that he's in jail. You can see her really taking charge in this page, and I like that nobody really has a problem with it.

In case you couldn't tell, Val's the one screaming offscreen about Nicky beating Marvelous Man. Again, we'll probably cut down on him mentioning it in future chapters, but had to include that joke. ^^

Yeah, originally Adam pitched this as teams of Grant & Nicky, Andy & Lore, and Jenny & Valerie. I pointed out they should be swapped around both so that Lore could directly meet up with the Peacekeepers and to get some more interesting combinations going since Grant & Nicky and Andy & Lore are pretty usual combinations.

But yeah, that's the end of that then. From here on we'll be taking a bit of a break - we're kind of swamped with other stuff at the moment, been some awkward circumstances, so it'll be the usual month instead of taking less of one despite the short chapter length, sorry - before we get to the next one.

Should be a fun round for the break though, we'll be getting to the next couple of pages of the Rick arc as well as doing the year 9 preview. Be sure to swing by for that and to swing by for chapter 23, What Can I Do for Blue?.

Rastaba exactly is Aunt Vespi supposed to help them? Kinda don’t think kidnapping Jake to another dimension (the thing which seemed to kick start his life of strangeness) will solve their problems. Since he’d still be considered a criminal in their dimension and an even bigger criminal by basically escaping prison.

Is Aunt Vespi actually a lawyer or something in addition to being a queen or something? These are part of the reason I jump to Spencer instead of Vespi. Spencer is a part of their world and for it knows their legal system probably a whole lot better then a visitor who comes and goes through magic portals as seems convenient to her. If anyone has a real answer besides just ‘get him out of jail and damn the consequences’ that can be confirmed as possible instead of simply conjecture, I will not argue. I just don’t get it.

Without giving too much away, in this particular case they're mostly seeking her out basically just seeing what she can offer exactly since she's the most helpful adult available who knows what they're up to. Don't really think they're thinking so far ahead as to see what she can or can't do exactly, just reaching out to see if she can be useful in some way while they're doing this. If nothing else she might have some ideas or some useful information or something.

That said while I don't really think the kids would have thought forward enough to realize the issues with her involvement, it is something we intend to bring up.

As for Spencer... We'll get to him.
