Eheh.... Yeah, sorry folks. This has really messed us all up, and we're going to work on getting a backlog going again. Until then we'll be doing some filler. The break is really, really needed now, and we're hopefully not going to be out of commission for too long.

Case in point, this filler was originally made by Martin because one page was only able to be set up really down to the wire. We sat on top of it until now. He wrote almost all of the dialog, with me only tweaking it and adding a couple of lines for the new situation.

I do like this idea for a light bit of filler. The characters costumes and designs have changed a lot since the start of the comic and it's fun to sort of look back like this. Valerie's original costume I think is really klunky and needed the attention. In particular I don't like the shoulder-pads. I know Valerie has them in her current costume, but they're clearly separate and fit more into the space-ranger feeling it's meant to have. Having the shoulder pads under the outfit to bulk her up more like a football player just looks terrible. I think I went with that because the idea was always that Valerie should be the tough one, and on paper, putting padding into her outfit would convey that.... But it didn't work in practice because it doesn't fit Valerie powerset. She's not a brawler so why have her dress like a linebacker?

Heck, Valerie's costume was originally supposed to have the colors reversed; initially it would've been mostly black with white on top, but Martin colored it backwards just when he was playing around with the designs and we liked it better. .... Heh. Okay, typing out these comments has me both looking forward to and dreading doing more of these. There's a lot of stuff I don't like about the old designs, and I imagine I'm gonna have fun lampooning them but also be cringing pretty hard.

Yeah, unfortunately we haven't really had much time for pulling ahead on Blues just yet, in large part because we had a bunch of pending commissions sitting from being sidelined for a month and needed to sink a lot of time into burning through those.

We're going to try and keep this break from being too long and are really sorry about this, but it's just been kind of a disaster and we're still working on recovering from it.

I originally threw this together the day Adam found a way to send me pages to color; the page that day was done but it looked like we had no way to send it so I prepped this just in case. We thought about showing it off on our Discord, but figured we should hold onto it instead in case the need arose for it.

This isn't the original version granted; Adam did a once-over of drawing it and tweaked / expanded on the dialogue, but same general idea and layout here. Still, basically the same on the whole, just Valerie talking about her old design.

Do hope everyone enjoys this but sorry for the delay.

To be fair, Val, you’re not exactly the most cheerful member of the group.
