Heh.... Yeah, this was a weird one to look back on. I'm surprised at just how different Andy's old costume was; the Jester thing is actually more and more accurate the more I stare at it. Like, to the point that I kinda can't believe it wasn't a conscious influence on my part.

I'm not entirely displeased, really, but the costume was so basic and stripped down that it didn't really leave much of an impression. Amping up the Ninja element did a LOT to make him pop more and give him more a personality. I can see him learning new techniques in the future that'll lean into the ninja motif and I at least at one point what to have a shot where he's entirely engulfed in shadow, Batman-style.

That said, I was getting more into the Jester thing as I wrote up the dialog. At first I dismissed the idea since it would make him seem like comic relief and nothing more... But when you think of characters like Dimentio or Jevil and how they invoke a "more clever than the king" feeling, it sort of fit Andy. It's sort an interesting what-if thing to think about, almost like Andy had an RPG-Style class-change and had the stats to go in either direction. As-is, I'm really happy with Ninja, but might convolute a way to get him in a creepy Jester outfit at some point down the line. I really AM kicking myself for not making him Dimentio in the Mario Halloween picture....

Andy's hair is weird; it tends to get really off model and drift into new looks really quick. Andy's original haircut was supposed to look how it does now, then quickly drifted (unintentionally) into the pompadour... When that got too noticeable we chopped it off and made it the more familiar spiked look.... In reality the whole thing was waves of art evolution, but I liked using the filler as a chance to explain it in-universe.

I really, REALLY like the goofy bad-haircut look he has, so I dunno what'll happen if/when the center reopens since his Mom'll no longer be cutting it. I'd like to try and move onto something else and I'm sure I'll find something I like just as much....

Yeah, we had sort of a moment of talking about it trying to decide who to do next, and both of us thought that Andy was a good second one given just how radically his costume's changed.

What's funny is that it hasn't come up within the story proper yet but Adam's actually pretty much committed at this point to a different superhero name for Andy even, though it does still start with an N if you're curious. I'll hold off on bringing that up in case Adam wants to do so himself.

I actually rather liked getting to revisit Andy's old costume here, think the color scheme on it is actually pretty good. Sort of wouldn't mind trying to bring Andy's a little more in line with that at some point, though probably using shades of green rather than shades of blue because I like the idea of the kids all having distinct color schemes plus it gives him a bit of a Robin Hood or Link kind of feel that certainly fits him.

What's funny is Andy's old costume still kind of lives on in the comics in a way because it was used as the basis for Glory's costume in Wright as Rayne, though admittedly we haven't seen her in-costume in awhile.

I actually like the pompadour look- it’s cute in a dorky sort of way. Also, I think maybe the swap to ninja was for the best- I feel Andy’s the type to prefer his toes being free.

As much as id like to see a younger Salix i think Quickzip would have a lot to say about the practicality and function of her costumes.

Wait, wouldn't a younger Salix be a sapling?

But heh... I think going the practicality route with Jenny might work, we'll have to see. ^^
