There we go, that ends the longest Blues chapter in... quite a while, actually. 48 pages? Jeez.... No wonder it felt like it took so long. There was a concentrated effort to be more breezy and light with the chapters as the Marvelous Man arc just had them tumorous in length. I think given how much ground we had to cover in this chapter though, it's not too bad. At least one fan told me this was going really breezy and was stunned when I mentioned the length.
Either way, yeah, we're going to be climaxing this arc soon, so that called for a creepy reminder of who the Night Terror is and why he's dangerous. The idea of him coming to Martina to thank her for making so many in the city children.... Yeesh. All kinds of horrifying. Just the idea that Martina can immediately sense that something is wrong and off talking to him.... Especially love the shadows enshrouding him in the third and fourth panels. Fourth especially just looks like he's being swallowed by darkness.... Great effect by Martin to really hammer in the creepiness.
This chapter I think highlighted that Martina has a lot of noble traits; struggling against adversity, always improving, never taking anything lying down.... But this page more than any other shows that she's not a good person. She can tell this guy is bad news, and that he'll pose a danger to everyone in Sapphire City. She still ditches and lets other people handle it. I do like that she's clearly trying to shield Evadora from it but... Yeah, nice little kick-the-dog moment.
So yeah, after that super-long chapter, the next one is likely to be really, really short, and the last before this arc reaches its climax. How's this Post-MM arc doing so far, folks? Enjoying? Better/Worse than the Gold-Arc? .... That's what I choose to call the Marvelous Man one, by the way. If this guy really is going to be the villain for this season I guess that makes this the Black Arc? Hm. Thoughts?
Well, feeling very sick the past couple of days so let's see what trying to comment on this one is like.
Kind of a weird page to comment on given how much of it's just kind of setup for down the line; like Adam mentioned we're looking toward the finish line of this story arc now, though the next chapter is only the penultimate one rather than actually the climax.
I like the idea that touching this thing is just inherently wrong to Martina. Like just being around it she can sense that this is a thing that should not be. Really makes this whole situation look intimidating.
Weird, this page calls back to the Lost Spell of Baron Fontainebleu while the corresponding WaR one calls back to Blue Skies With a Chance of Rayne. Guess we've got crossovers on the brain. ... That's not meant as a hint, we don't have anything specific planned for the immediate future, just saying.
