Heheh.... Yeah, still going in hard with Jake kicking butt and saving the day. ^^ He immediately just moves in to rescue each of the kids in level of danger. Vespi also gets into it, grabbing Lore before she can get hurt, and tossing Jake's dream-spear back to him.
A lot of people on the Discord complimented Jake's spear-throwing in the last page, so I guess it's sort of funny to think he was attempting a kill-shot.
I think Andy's last line could've been stronger but couldn't think of anything offhand. In the scripts Jake was supposed to be cutting him loose in the 5th and pulling him to safety in the 6th, but it didn't work out that way in drawing it. Sooooo had to tweak the dialog on the fly. The Deja Vu line would've been in the final panel as is a stronger ending note.
I felt a little dissatisfaction with this one while actually doing it, mostly since I had to do a rather messy fix for the blur of the spear being overlaid on top of the window; would've shown up too bright compared to everything else if not for me basically manually going in and making it darker. I think zoomed in it looked rather sloppy, but exported I think it looks fine so maybe I was just reading too far into it.
In either case, yeah, maybe not the ideal situation the kids had in mind for getting to see Jake again, but I do like how you can tell that they're still thrilled to see him despite what's happening. Likewise I like that Jake's clearly immediately concerned about their wellbeing despite staying entirely focused on the task at hand; it feels very much like him to not really bother with the sentimentality right now but do think you can kind of tell that he's happy to see them, even if it really isn't showing.
It does bare noting that Adam's getting his first round of the vaccine on Thursday; the next page is already drawn so it shouldn't be an issue, I just might need to shade it, but figured a heads-up should be given just in case any issues arise.
Yeah, now that I've gotten it my arm is a really tense and I feel sort of fatigued after exercising, but other than that I'm doing okay. Really dreading the second shot.
