Just a heads-up, Comic Fury's moving servers lately and that might impact being able to do updates on Comic Fury. If there are any delays soon then keep an eye out on our DeviantArt mirrors -

As we mentioned before, this page was originally going to come earlier, but it was decided that we needed to see some of the nightmares first. So this is where we're at now - Jake being the one able to stand against the Night Terror and having to make do with the shards of the spear to fight him. It's certainly going to be an uphill fight but clearly Jake isn't backing down on it.

Sort of a difficult one to comment on I think, but do hope that everyone will enjoy it. We'll be returning to the nightmares, don't worry about that, but for the time being we'll be seeing Jake fighting instead. Not a bad way to bring him back into the spotlight after so long gone, eh?

Heheh.... Yeah, this is the awesome follow-up to the kids all being in nightmares; Jake is now left alone to fight the Night Terror. Jake is absolutely the right character to do this with since as the one without powers it looks like he's the worst person to be in this scenario, and having the most experience makes him look like the BEST person to be in this scenario. It's a perfect mixture of hopeless but knowing he can still hold the line.

Martin pitched the nightmare-trap scenario and it wound up dominating this chapter, I think I'm the one who liked the idea of Jake being left out. A lot of the idea came from my favorite manga, Mahou Sensei Negima. There's a sequence where the party are up against an enemy who traps most of them in their greatest fantasies, with the cynical complainer being the only one left out since it turns out that despite her complaining, she's already LIVING her greatest fantasy.

It felt like a natural thing to tweak around for Jake here. As the parent of the group, he would be afraid for their safety and understand that he had to keep them safe. The Night Terror also brings up that he's ultimately the one who enabled the kids on the understanding that he'd watch over them, so in the back of his mind, he probably is thinking that if something happens it's ultimately his fault. That just drives him further with the need to NOT let anything happen.

We can see in the first panel that the various victims of the Night Terror are floating through the air, hovering like they were on the comic's cover. I wanted it emphasized more, but think this communicates the idea fine.
