This page was a weird one. It so happened that we had four major projects all converging this weekend (Yesterday's WaR page, this Blues page, a commission and a side project), and it was going to be a hassle to get them all out at once. To take the edge off of things this page was scripted to be relatively light. It helps that this is one of those "We have to do this scene but it's also boring" sort of pages. We kinda HAVE to have the entire group meeting up, so we might as well keep the page light just to make this weekend sorta bearable.
Is still a good place to highlight some of what's been going on so far. Jenny is still struggling with the emotional hit she just took, but is tough enough to soldier through it for now.... Grant's door is the one with those colors on the frame, which coupled with his dating choices in his nightmare... Like he said, there are implications he's trying not to deal with just yet. And someone is only now bringing up how weird it is that Valerie is just walking around in Heather's clothes.
Heh. Come to think of it, Grant choosing not to discuss his dream also has something to do with the fact that he's seeing Jenny bawling and knows that "I was rich and successful" would sound like a weird thing to cop to.
Yeah, this one was kind of a victim of timing; we were looking at doing four separate comic pages in two days and between those one was a commission we wanted to get out before the end of the month, one was WaR which is rapidly coming up on the end of the current chapter so we didn't want to delay it (especially since there'll be a separate delay for its anniversary soon anyway), and one was a side project where it's the last page of that for now so we didn't want to delay it for too long either. That kind of left Blues holding the short straw.
Still, I am pretty happy with how this one came out, think it kind of does what it needs to; we get a lot of the group reuniting and sort of working through some of their lingering baggage and get to sort of have them poke at each other's issues a bit and get a bit of a feel for what's plaguing everyone else. I like Val's confused reaction to Grant's outfit, he is certainly the most normal-looking one of the group right now and all so makes sense to draw attention to that.
As for Grant's door... Yeah, feels appropriate that he'd kind of have that moment of, "... Huh," while also recognizing that this isn't really the time to be concerned about it.
