Yeah, this is something of a breather page, very light and easy to handle. .... By necessity, as it came out.
The first panel of this was going to be just part one leading into a number of additional panels of the group all reacting to what was going on and formulating a counter-counter strategy. But.... I've had a rough couple of weeks, and because of a dentist visit throwing my entire schedule off, I've been running on waaaaay less sleep than usual. So when the time came to do this page it quickly became apparent I was physically unable to do it. I struggled to draw eight heads in the first panel, the action-packed shot of everyone running at the camera.
Which, actually, was a suggestion from Martin, come to think of it. Which is appropriate, since when I sent him that one panel he stepped up and added those additional two, figuring out a way to very lightly expand the page to a fuller set. Did a lot to make this feel more like an actual page and less like a tiny filler. Hell, when he realized that Lillie had been left out of the top panel, he threw her into the extreme foreground to cover the plothole.
For everything that brought this about, page still came out awesome. The first shot is very action-packed and the Night Terror panels cover an ominous, sinister feel. Seeing it finished is very rewarding. ^^ Kinda still exhausted, so gonna take a nap now that this is up. Will take it easy tonight before getting to the lineart of the next WaR page....
Yeah, this page was kind of a victim of circumstance; Adam's kind of had it a bit rough lately and he kind of realized too late that he wasn't up for doing an entire page last night so just did the one shot and then I kind of improvised the rest of the page around it.
Do think it came out alright despite that, if maybe a bit off artistically given I drew the second panel (and Lillie in the first). Adam did get the third though.
It does sort of figure that before I said the rest of the chapter should be fine provided nothing comes up and then something came up. Guess just kind of tempting fate in that way. Still, Wright as Rayne chapter ends on Monday, we should have a lot more breathing room after that regardless. Been kind of a long and taxing chapter to do. Even for this one it was kind of a huge hassle for me because Manga Studio was constantly locking up and crashing trying to do it.
Plus side I mentioned wanting to experiment with drawing liquid better and hey, this was an excuse to take bit of a deep dive on that! Thoughts?
