This one was interesting to mess around with; kind of a lot of potential color schemes in mind for this one because we only really ironed out the general direction of where we wanted to take Lore's costume last night while this was being drawn. We kind of had the broad idea in mind for a bit - sort of leaning into a bit of an old-time strongman look with the pattern on the outfit resembling a singlet with one strap and no legs, but with those actually covered up - but the specific implementation was something we really got to messing around with her.
One other thing we were really trying to do was cut down on the number of redundant logos on Lore's costume. Having one on her chest and the collar of her cape both just looked needlessly messy, as did the designs on the cape itself. Think restricting it to the small chest star, the wrists, and the belt works a lot better, looks much more understated.
I think if I had to pick one of these for which direction I'm leaning in it would be #2, #3, or #9, but it's really hard to say. Input would definitely be appreciated on this one, always room to iron it out a little further before we actually implement it, particularly since the new costumes prooobably won't be in the next chapter anyway.
Ughh.... Black Friday was a long one. Everything that could go wrong did. Eh, whatever, back home, and loved this spreadsheet for Lore.
Like Martin said, this came from looking going further on the strongman element, pushing elments around until we hit on things we liked. Offhand things like the smaller bracelets to emphasize her scrawny arms, the shorter more matador-ish cape, the toning down on emblems, the leotard, ect. All of it came together in just the right way for us to be satisfied. Final result was just so satisfying to stand back and see, moreso when Martin sent it in color.
I'm only just now getting a chance to look at this closely and weigh my favorites after I've been busy serving customers all day, but my favorites are probably #3, #8 and #9, maybe #5. All of them do a great job looking cute and spunky.
Hope everyone enjoys. Which one of these do you think is the best? Which kid would you like to see next?
