This has been a very rough day. For the past four months I've been squatting and trying to get a place in West Virginia, but keep getting waylaid by some other form of insanity. Today I wound up having to fill out forms and make multiple calls trying to get the last of the paperwork to clear, and at the end when I'm told I finally have approval, I don't believe it. I've been put through the wringer these last few months and now that things seem clear it feels unreal to me.

As all this is happening I've steadily been working on the page. I read The Hobbit the summer before the movies came out, and the second I read the passage in the last panel I knew I wanted to use it in Blues. It's such a strong, beautiful moment that's not really remarked on; finding your courage late in a long journey. It feels so strong reading it now after all this stuff has happened.

Also it fits perfectly with what Jake's been going through on this chapter; something terrifying is coming at him and he needs that moment to steady himself. You can even see that he's feeling better about what's coming. Honestly, I think he might be smiling in that last panel.

Either way, knew I wanted to end the page with Jake reading to the kids, which is why I made sure to bring it up earlier in the chapter. It always felt like such a simple, dad-ish thing for him to do. We also see snippits of the kids all interacting now that they're in the same place, with Jenny and Lore playing with their toys and Valerie getting Guy's help to sneak in to see Heather.

Speaking of, yeah, I kept wanting to get to Heather and Guy this chapter but it kept not working out. Glad I eventually got to sneak them in here at the finish line.

Next chapter'll start after the usual break. We're doing something VERY special for the next one, hope you folks will enjoy~

God, good show of how intense these last few months have been; this is a pretty short chapter but it feels like it started forever ago to me because of just how much IRL stuff has happened to me since then.

Yeah, next up is chapter 30, though first we'll be having a break; very overdue, the past few months have been very stressful and we could certainly use the breathing room for a bit to catch up on some other projects. Very much looking forward to the next chapter though, as mentioned it'll be a very special one, though specifics will come on that a little later.

So yeah, kind of just a page of things settling back into a bit more of a routine. Think Adam pretty well covered this one, not sure how much more I have to say about it, but it is nice kind of having this sort of return to normalcy, even while there are lingering issues going forward in regards to the kids needing to get their licenses, that phonecall Lore got, and getting used to the idea of Jake being a dad. Feels like an appropriate way and appropriate time to be wrapping this chapter up given what all Adam's been dealing with of late honestly.
