Okay, something we keep forgetting to mention in the comments; we're going to take a soft-break in August. We'll be updating only once a week for each comic (Saturday for Blues, Monday for WaR). Main reason is we want the time to buckle down and get Militant Gold ready for submission; the heavy lifting is almost done but we want this one to be a hit so we're trying to give it lots of extra spit shine.

In the meantime, yeah! The heroes are now split up into weird groups, and here we check in with the surface team! Marina sort of taking the slot of team leader by virtue of having faught against Harena before and actually lived to come back and bother her again!

Marina's talent as a summoner who can bring about monsters to do her bidding always leads to some fun designs for said creatures. You can tell this mole was an early one; premiered way back in Black Princess and has a lot less polish than her other beasties. I kinda meant to give it a once-over juts to make it pop a little more but was dead tired when I drew this so couldn't come up with ideas.

Gotta love Mantioda's tsundere attitude toward those losers she totally doesn't care about.

Yeah, like Adam said, relaxed schedule in August. Partially it's to give us some breathing room, mostly it's so we can focus on getting Militant Gold ready to launch at the start of September. As it stands all of the pages that are due to go up in the first batch are drawn and colored, and the chapter itself nearly is wrapped up entirely, but we still have to get a lot of the pages shaded, need to finalize the logo, need to wrap up the cover, need to design the website, and a few other odds and ends. It shouldn't be too hard to get everything together but want to be sure we're comfortably ready to kick things off when the comic starts. More details will come soon, probably once a lot of that work's done so we can formally commit to our planned launch date.

But yeah, something I really wanted to get down with this chapter was figuring out who should be in what groups together. Since they can teleport Telegirl and Marina were naturally due to be part of this group, as were Grant and the ghost since they can fly and thus could easily avoid falling underground with the others. And of course where else would you stick Val than with a bunch of weirdos she can't wrap her head around?

Is this out first time actually seeing the mole in Blues? I know it showed up at least twice in Black Princess but not sure if it's put in a lot of appearances besides that. It first appeared way back in chapter 2 of BP so kind of an early, basic design compared to a lot of the stuff Marina's busted out since, but we did at least add whiskers to it and I did some tweaking in coloring to make its head a bit more stubby and mole-like.

Admittedly benefit of hindsight I probably would've put another boy in this group instead of leaving Grant as the only one. Kind of just inherently slanted by Rick's crew being so girl-heavy I guess, plus the Peacekeepers also having more women, though at least the other two groups are 3 boys, 4 girls as opposed to being 5-1 like this one is.
