Sometimes there's a page in a chapter that suddenly changes everything about what that story is gonna be about. Ones where they drop and sudden it's just "Yeah, this is what we're doing now." It's pretty maddening to me that this had to wait until 20 pages in, but this is why we brought Insomniac back. So we could do this storyline.
I mean.... It's a logical thing for him to turn to at this point, right? It's been several months in-story by now, he has to be considering this. It's one reason I absolutely love this chapter's cover. The image of the kids all lying in the sleeping pills is really striking, so much so that it's not immediately obvious to the reader that the Insomniac is holding an entire handful of sleeping pills.
......
Holy God, should uh... Wait, should I have done a trigger warning for this chapter? That... That's literally just occurring to me as I'm typing this. .... Yeah, I uhh... Might need to rush that out.
......
There we go, added a trigger warning to the page, really sorry about the suddenness and really, really hope nobody's upset. Martin and I really care about everybody who reads our comics and wanted to make sure things are accounted for.
I mentioned the last page being one where Adam had to tweak it at the end with it ultimately being decided to leave it unclear what Lore was reacting to; that's because we thought it'd make for a much better shift to devote a whole page to this image rather than just tack it on at the end of another one. Especially given it carries with it a radical shift in the tone of what's been a mostly kind of breezy chapter to this point.
It's a bit of a difficult one for me to comment on given that but yeah, this was where this was going. Always intended to eventually do this kind of story with the character and here we are.
