Heheh... Happy Halloween, folks! Here to celebrate are our heroes in their Smash Brothers Finest! ^^
I had a few "Themes" in mind for the kids to all be in costume as, including anime, movie monsters, TF2, and Star Wars, but figured on Smash Brothers for now. So crazy happy about how it looks, I'll probably do it again next year, so will probably try another stream then.
Nearly went with a video games in general theme with Jake as James Sunderland, but figured on making him Ike. ^^
The bags are probably my favorite part. They were just a last-minute thing since I didn't want them looking samey and the logos were an easy thing to add, but in color it just looks great. Lore's bag is easily my favorite, but think Andy and Jenny came out best in their costumes. Or maybe Val.
Jenny's costume was last-minute too, since I wanted to go with Peach at first, then shied off since... I honestly don't like Peach that much, then thought about Zelda but since Grant was already Link thought it might feel weird. Then, since the huge-appetite/super-friendly personality was synonymous with Kirby, tried to make a Kirby costume that made sense and came out pretty good. ^^
One nice thing about the Kirby costume, by extension of that there's no repetition among the series. Neat little thing, that.
It's been probably a few months since I've played Brawl, should probably change that soon. Actually, once Adam's Wi-Fi's up and running it again maybe we should play together; we did so once and had fun but it's been ages and we haven't really gotten around to doing it again.
About the pic, though... Weird little case where I kind of tried to rush it but at the same time it look awhile, though I'm quite happy with it. Something I'm discovering is that blue is much harder to work with in Manga Studio; just the way its color selector is done it's very easy to get it looking washed out or faded. In a sense this page made for good practice with that - Lore's hat and shoes, the Master Sword, that inexplicable blue part on Link's wrists (seriously, what's with that? You can barely see it in most shots of him and it doesn't match the rest of the outfit), Andy's pants and bag, Nicky's overalls, Jake, Jenny's blush... Lot of blue here.
Which is appropriate given the comic we're in. Anyway, hope everyone has a happy Halloween, and be sure to swing by Wright as Rayne and The Black Princess this weekend for their bonus updates!
Andy in Red's costume? I am in awe. It's like you read my mind or something. Pokemon is my favorite game title, and out of all the Blue Bloods, Andy is my favorite (even though I question his general fashion sense.) Hope they all get lots of treats- and also they don't get too hyped up on sugar.
Seeing Jake in a costume is funny since he turned it down the first time, I wonder how much begging and pleading and puppy-dog eyed cuteness the kids had to pull off to get him to wear that.
Admittedly, Jake going in a costume works better when I was planning on having him go as James Sunderland; he'd just have to change his jacket. But yeah, fair question. ^^
