Notice that it is a chance of Rayne. I'd say if we don't see any Rayne in the first page there probably won't be any.
Woo, the crossover is on! Man have I been pumped up for this, and it has been a lot of fun to work on so far.
Although most of this cover is kind of a lie. We'll explain that when it becomes relevant. Not to worry, we'll be seeing Starchild and all six of the heroes and Jake and Xandy and all of that, just this cover is a bit misleading on some of it. But it wouldn't be a proper huge comic book crossover if the cover was accurate, would it?
I could say a lot more on it, but I'll try and keep myself restrained since I imagine we're going to have tons of things to say on the chapter proper as it goes. However, there is one thing...
If you have not read, or heard of, Wright as Rayne, on Comic Fury there is a link at the top of the page, on DeviantArt there is a link to both it and The Black Princess (which is also linked to on Comic Fury as its own thing) above the comments. All the same however, you can take a look at WaR at either of these links -
I would suggest reading through the comic to get a feel for the characters and some of the references therein, plus since Adam and I sink a ton of time and effort into it too, though it isn't essential. The story being told here is mostly a Blues storyline that some things going on in WaR interrupt, which is kind of appropriate given that's how this chapter idea started out - this was basically a case where I saw an opening for a WaR and Blues crossover to happen, we decided to find an upcoming chapter that would accommodate it, and this one worked since the idea for it was kind of thin anyway.
Man, I'm sorta nervous now... ^^ Still, do hope everyone'll enjoy. I mean, I'm sorta afraid it'll be a let-down.
Will say though, we didn't try to make the chapter just done for the sake of it. Besides bringing Xandy to the center, I tried to use the meeting of the kids and Alex to explore some aspects of everyone involved. In particular brings up some thoughts about the Blues kids I've wanted to get into for a long time, while also discussing something involved with Alex.
The villains they're sneaking up on.... That's sorta a major opportunity for the comic as far as Blues goes. The villains in this chapter.... It's hard to explain; I've got really big plans for them, but they need to be set-up properly first. But they're not really that interesting before the big plans get set into motion. So I couldn't do a whole chapter involving them. Since I knew whatever bad guys get into this chapter'll be overshadowed by the crossover anyway, this was a good way to get around it. They provide a conflict, but Alex and the kids meeting up is allowed to steal the show without much trouble. ^^
Huh. Wait, Starchild's boots aren't right in this cover. Admittedly, this was like the third time I'd drawn her in that costume so finer details were still escaping me.
If it helps, by the time the Starchild costume actually pops up in-story in WaR I wound up tweaking the color scheme slightly anyway. Not that we've seen that yet.
