Man, the upcoming chapters of all three comics are going to be weird. In this case, it's because if you couldn't tell, this one's going to be dark. Just look at how menacing that chicken looks.
I really need to figure out how to not have to do the black-lining thing on our comics. It causes so many little problems that just look bad, though in this case since I had to . Originally the bodies in the last panel had this more obvious, out-of-place glow around them from it and the clouds like they tend had way too thick of outlines. Fixed that while putting the cover details on this one before submitting it. Due to it being very last-minute, fixing that part, you can still kind of see how it originally looked with the clouds in the top portion.
Speaking of, had to lop off a good bit of the last panel to fit this, which I was kind of reluctant to do but I don't think it hurts it too much. Do think maybe with the covers we should start posting the full shots of them without the extra details though, might edit that in later.
Not sure what all else I've got exactly, kind of tired here and also scatterbrained. But I have been quite liking how this chapter's been coming out so far both art and script-wise, and I'm eager to see some of the reactions it's going to get.
Personally it doesn't necessarily always bother me, the glow thing. I'm actually sorta glad you kept it on the top-row clouds; gives them a silvery lining.
But yeah, REALLY owe Martin a lot on finishing this cover. The stuff with the title, by-lines, bar codes, ect, are always him, and I didn't even wake up until like ten minutes before this was scheduled to go up, so he had to get everything. I especially love that chicken; Martin always picks the image for that "In This Issue" box an totally didn't expect him of all things.
Hell, this very chapter idea was Martin's idea. The next few chapters are gonna be... rough. He had this great idea of the tree's branches separating different parts of the sky, each one turning darker and more ominous. Threw on top of that the kids looking at these hopeful, billowing clouds, Antlers in the shadows, and the bodies of fallen heroes to show dark times might be ahead.
Really, I'm sorta glad I got the Marvelous Man intro out of the way now, since this chapter is gonna be loooong. Hell, I totally forgot one reason I made that its own thing is so it wouldn't clutter this one up. There's a chance this may beat out Best Served Blue as the longest chapter, though kinda hoping not. Funny since as we'll see Wednesday, this has a few returning faces from that chapter.
If anyone can correctly guess how that rooster shows up I'll give them a free request.

Strap in though, folks. It's gonna be a long one.
