Seriously, people keep asking about lighting Salix on fire, hacking at it with Kensuke's katana.... Either everyone just forgot Chiko-tan has a chainsaw or (more likely) nobody associates chainsaws with woodcutting anymore. It's for zombies. To use that a bunch of zombies need to appear sometime in the next five pages.
Granted, maybe it's because Chiko-tan has done practically nothing during this whole chapter. Again, juggling this many characters is hard.
Anyway, this sort of weird talk on Salix is sort of instigated by Star Trek, I think. They talk about this kind of thing all the time; in particular reminds me of the episode with the Chrystaline Entity. This particular little theme'll be discussed further in the chapter in how to deal with Salix.
I love how Antlers probably referred to Salix as "Salix Babylonica" in passing upon recognizing the genus of tree, and not only did Salix take that as the name he uses to interact with humans but Jenny is calling him "Mr. Babylonica."
I was a little unsure working on it how the red tint to everything looked; seemed like a cool idea in my head, but in Manga Studio it looked very iffy. Still not entirely sold on it I don't think, but do think it works alright. Looks better in the next page where I used a bit different of a tint.
Need to do more Blues coloring, still been kind of working page-to-page on it. Kind of been doing the same with WaR but had a big pull-ahead last night so it's nearly caught up by now, so need to do similar with Blues. Just, y'know... You can probably see why these pages have been taking awhile looking at this.
Anyway, yeah, on the whole pretty happy with this one at least, some good character stuff and some nice little moments. Nothing too specifically worth drawing attention to I don't think, though. Pages coming after this have a lot more going on.
But yeah, one reason I made Salix was I didn't like how the Ents wound up coming off. They're trees! They shouldn't be all humanoid!
