This is so weird; not only did I come up with the chapter title myself, but also the cover image with no help from Martin. Usually those ideas are all him. Almost disappointed since his are usually so much better. Curious what he would've come up with for this.
Idea was basically this guy screaming in agony while the Blues kids are strewn around him "Dying." Fun part was coming up with different ways for each kid to play dead. Jenny lying in a pool of "blood" and Andy skewering himself were ideas I had from day one, the rest fairly random. I liked Valerie being burned at the stake by cardboard flames and Nicky being "fed to the wolves". ^^ Grant's death is a reference to the Reeve Superman film. I think Jake was going to have one of those Steve-Martin-arrows through his head but didn't wind up happening.
Yeah, the humor on this is gonna be a bit weird. Will say, like the Darkskull chapter, a good deal of the jokes are going to be based in comic book history, but in a way that I think should be more accessible to most audiences. It... It's complicated but we'll get more into it as we go along.
One thing I DO really regret is showing off that new character in that outfit. That should've been a later reveal. Like the new costumes, which we'll see fairly early into the chapter. ^^
EDIT: Fixed that just before it was set to go up so the new guy isn't in his costume. Even though he still is. Technically. It's complicated.
Oh, right, the backdrop that guy has plastered onto the window is a reference to... Hang on...

I actually did chip in a couple of the ideas within this, specifically what's going on with Grant and Lore, but still, yeah, mostly Adam's creation here.
As you can see, Blues is getting the hair and shading updates we've been doing in WaR here; not immediately, however, as it takes a few pages before these start showing up in the comic proper. Not too terribly long, it's just not right away.
Part of the reason, if anyone's wondering, for the change in the banner for this cover, besides for the joke, is thinking the old one is showing its age, and we don't want to show the costumes off in their entirety until the page revealing them. Said page is not very far into the chapter, think only a couple of weeks off.
I'm really not sure how wacky it'll be either... But do really hope you'll enjoy. ^^ Cover should make more sense once the chapter gets underway and you see just what the deal is with the guy in the middle.
