Jeez. Four pages in and our heroes have just been forced into disbanding. Say this about Marvelous Man, the guy is efficient.
Yeah, not sure how else this could have gone once Marvelous Man found out about the group. What they're doing is illegal he's a super-hero who stops illegal crimes... yeah. So they're busted.
Marvelous Man was still concerned he'd hurt them though, hence him checking on Lore to make sure her bruises are gone. Though... Think Lore might have some degree of PTSD after the last chapter... I dunno, wanted to kind of display that after the last curb-stomp battle the kids are fully aware of how powerless they are next to the guy. Likewise I kinda liked Marvelous Man's method of just grabbing Lore to check on her. It's kinda the right blend of concerned and insensitive.
Yeah, cover is blown. You had to know it was going to happen eventually that someone would find out (if only because we've been kind of quietly building the idea that they have to keep it secret for awhile now), but still, pretty big shift in things going down here, especially with that last panel.
Not sure how much else I've got offhand but I do like how this one came out. For being four pages into the chapter and just consisting of people talking in an office this is a real big hurdle, huh?
My biggest thing here...is that for some reason when he is grabbing Lore's face it looks like he is using his left hand given the position his fingers are wrapping around. But his left hand is clearly touching his own face.
So is that just a minor thing with the art or has Marvelous Man developed the power to flex his right hand to bend and twist like his left? Which is admittedly NOT the freakiest thing he might be able to possibly do.
Nah, is just an art thing. I think the idea is that he's trying to get ahold of her jaw and she's resisting a bit, thus the awkward angle, but admittedly probably could be a little more clean there.
Hrm. I predict this going one of a couple of ways:
Firstly, I can only see that Nicky and Valerie's parents are going to be pissed.
Jenny's parents might be mad, but later accepting.
Grant's parents will probably be pissed too.
Andy's will likely be at first mad, then accepting.
Lore's sister will probably be shocked, but accepting.
And what'll likely happen plot-wise, is that they're probably still going to sneak around. I mean, they have friggin' powers, and the emotional maturity of teens they're not going to be broken that easily. Demoralized for a bit, sure, but not broken.
Jake is going to likely lose his job, or get passively aggressively 're-assigned'. If he's even brought in.
Then either they'll redeem themselves through like, saving the school or something, or try to discredit MM or both. Maybe ask for Insomniac's help, which is actually pretty dark, if you think about it. But desperate cases... desperate measures. Can't wait to see what happens.
Heh. Interesting guesses on the parent reactions. ^^ On the sneaking around though; keep in mind their families live in different states (except Andy and Lore, who are both from Texas) so if they're expelled, sneaking around (or staying together at all) probably isn't going to be an option.
Heh. Insomniac thing certainly is an intriguing idea, though. ^^ As desperate as it is dunno if even a situation like this would call for such an extreme measure. As you said it would pretty friggin' dark.
Well, Jenny is a speedster.
Grant can fly.
Nicky and Val, though would be harder to justify. Though... technically speaking, Val could probably use her laser blasts as a way of transportation, with Nicky tied around her shoulders.
Heheh... All good, though... That works for getting together if they're in the same city. Jenny's dad lives in Kansas and the Strines live in Arizona. I... Think maybe Jenny could possibly make the trip, maybe (I'm not sure how her body stacks up on distances that far), but that'd be way too far for the Valerie and Nicky. Any sneaking around would need them all to sort of stay in Stonewall City.
I don't think this is going quite how MM planned. I'm guessing later on a PR stunt for him might be in the kids favour. What kind of olive branch could he extend though?

Also, I'll probably be posting my responses to the Patreon page, lest I give anything away.
