The next three pages were REALLY hard to write. Reason being that what the kids are doing genuinely IS illegal and was hard to justify them not being busted since they honestly kinda should be. I actually wound up looking back on a particularly eye-rolling Spider-Man issue on how to make their case.
Not gonna go into details on that, but wanted to back up and remind everyone of... Y'know, pretty much everything that's happened in the comic up to this point. Stopping Ferguza's blizzard. Stopping the Insomniac. Saving Aurora. Rescuing Senator Howlend. Just writing them off as "kids in costumes" doesn't work when the heroes have already saved so many people.
More than anything else, I think the kids attempting to connect with Marvelous Man in terms of ideals shows that, while they don't LIKE him very much, they are trying to reason with him. Trying to appeal to not just idealism but also results is a strong way of making your case in something like this.
For the record, don't think Grant sees Aurora's situation as unimportant, just it's harder to make that sound cool. ^^ Also I made a conscious effort to have them not mention Darkskull. Kinda like the idea that they genuinely forgot that guy exists.
Not sure how much I've got to say here but I do really like how all this continues to come out. Lot of good examination of the morality of everything and like I said before, I do like how in this chapter kind of everyone's getting to have a decent point.
Guess to be fair the kids are kind of leaving out some details in how they describe everything there, especially the fact they didn't actually win that second fight with Martina. Still, I do like getting into all of this. It is kind of funny though that Grant is forgetting about the team-up with Starchild, but I can understand that given it really was just kind of a random throwdown on the way to the other stuff with Persephone's Children and is probably not especially the part of the day he really remembers the most. Plus Alex took all the public credit for that one anyway.
First responders to help people is slightly different from vigilante. They may have blurred the line a bit a few times though their intention is still just to help people.
Heros aren't always dealing with villains.
