I get the feeling Jake doesn't have a particularly high opinion of himself. He's always been meant to be a "Jerk with a heart of gold" kind of character, but I don't think he knows the gold heart exists. If he does something brave or friendly, he sees it as no big deal. That didn't occur to me until I wrote this page.
Yeah, Jake's rake disappears in the third panel, but that's due to the placement of his hand. When I went to make him hold it, it kept looking... suggestive, so I left it out.
I think this was around the time I started just having Grant float around in his scenes. Really made him easier to place and draw.
Sorry for the delay once more, but at least I should be fine for the next update and hopefully those following. Hit on a decent place to handle things at in the future - won't exactly always be right on time but it works well for what I need it for.
Sort of strange looking back at this, since this was back when the art was still progressing along a bit - this was drawn a lot earlier than the current WaR and BP pages it's gone up alongside - and the palette changed a little while ago. I thought about trying to touch up the chapter here and there to match, but this is a long, complicated one so I opted not to do so. Apologies for that - if not for my current Internet issues probably would have at least taken a shot at it. Palette change happened on a different computer from my regular one anyway, part of why I went with it.
