Go back and read the comic and I thiiiink it should bare Val's point out; Jake does NOT give the kids jobs or tell them what to do. It's something about the character I've always kept an eye on and tried to keep consistent. Even though Jake gives the kids advice a lot, he never puts his foot down and forces them to do something. He always makes sure the kids are making their own decisions. I think it's a subtle but pretty crucial aspect to the character in terms of his role toward the kids and the morality of his actions.
There also had to be a question on the legality of this after the Marvelous Man thing. The reasoning is that this isn't really a super-hero thing, it's just them going out looking for treasure. As far as they know there's not going to be any trouble or bad guys to stop them. As Andy summed up, it's okay to use their powers for this as long as they don't rescue anybody from anything.
Again, trying to build up Vespi as a loving Team Mom to the group. Is the "Aunt Vespi" thing too forced? Kinda wanted it to feel natural and jokey. Like... at the beginning of the comic, the plan was for the kids to call Jake "Mr. Jake" but Martin quickly pointed out it didn't feel right.
Martin also pointed out to me how the school is WAY too small in the last panel and now nobody can unsee it.
Not sure how much I've got to say on this one myself. Kind of distracted with other matters at the moment but beyond that just kind of a self-explanatory page and think Adam covered most of what needs saying on it.
Still, am happy with how it came out. Started to find a little bit more of a groove with the gradient stuff here though it's kind of a tricky line to walk - want it to be something that makes a difference but not really enough that you actively pick up on it, but think it's still kind of too subtle here.
All I've really got but hopefully everyone enjoys.
I could see Vespitina telling the kids to call her Aunt Vespi to be the fun, as mentioned, team mom. And so you basically don’t need a license, criminals notwithstanding, to be a treasure hunter seeking dark potentially forbidden spell work in a world where magic is clearly acknowledged enough, but you need one to be able just go save people from a crazy magic cultist lady when clearly there isn’t anyone else givin enough of a crap to have already come along....Andy is right, that is messed up.
Worst case scenario, kids run off to Vespi’s world. No extradition for parallel magical realms and/or dimensions!
