That's it. This storyline's been going on way longer than intended and it's time to buckle down and wrap it up. No more delays, no more hyper-bloated chapters. We're doing this. GET HYPE!
Yeah, wanted the chapter cover to be straight and to the point and have a "Yeah, we're doing this" idea. Just a straightforward shot of the kids facing off against Marvelous Man, looking over the giant's shoulder at the tiny, defiant challenger. I really love the "Blue vs X" thing too, I might need to use that the next time the kids go up against a super-powerful foe. Last time it was when they fought Salix.
You'll probably notice the Blues kids have slightly tweaked costumes here. That's uh... A bit hard to go directly into, but basically wanted to tweak them before the big climax and "fully realize" their new outfits. Can go into more detail later in the chapter when these finally appear.
I CAN talk about Marvelous Man, though. Basically we wanted to tweak his costume to make him look more heroic (sort of a weird twist on the Evil Costume Switch trope) by taking out the black and injecting some white. Asked Martin to make sure Gold was still the dominant color in his outfit and that was the scheme we liked the best. Here's the sheet....

There's one aspect of the new costumes that was very odd for us, but it'll be awhile before we can go into that. Just something to keep in the back of our head while doing this I guess.
But yeah, the blowoff to the Marvelous Man storyline, let's go! This'll probably be a pretty long chapter but yeah, the intention is for this to wrap all of this up and lay the groundwork for where we're going after it. Never was intended for this storyline to go on for as long as it has but it's just kind of inflated for various reasons over the years.
And just noticed like an idiot I put the wrong chapter number on the cover but that's fixed now. Related the lack of an In This Chapter box this time is intentional - it was awkward to fit in and it felt like it'd just distract from what was going on in the cover in this case so since it's a special occasion decided not to include it.
Marvelous Man’s new costume honestly makes him look more like an arrogant douchey villain. Gold is a color used to denote arrogance, greed, and vanity more than anything else for me. I like the white cape though, it pops very nicely and I feel like this answers my earlier question about ‘what changes would Marvelous Man make to his costume’ quite soundly. So yay!
I am also excited to see the kids happen to be there facing him down WITHOUT their masks (Except Andy for some reason and Jenny’s helmet has a visor). They will likely be wearing them in the actual show down, but seeing them revealed like this makes me wonder and is super exciting!
