Not sure how much I have to say on this one but pretty happy with how it came out. Just the group being fun, nothing much to it. I like the choice Adam made with this one to have everyone wearing their debut outfits for this period - appropriate little thing given how full-circle this chapter is.
Though come to think of it Adam might wanna adjust the dialogue when he gets in given we saw Grant and Nicky meeting each other's moms before. Though to be fair that whole conversation seemed to be dominated by Grant's mom so could see where it wouldn't really count as actually much getting to know them.
Eheh... Tweaked.... Actually totally forgot about that moment. ^^ I kinda like that this means Grant is still really shy and awkward around them despite having met them before.
But yeah, was writing this page and to a lesser extent the one before them to kinda carry thing "and this is where we leave them" sort of feel. I wanted to establish that Marvelous Man didn't beat them, in large part thanks to Jake and Vespi. The kids are perfectly happy to just be kids, train and study for their eventual lives as super-heroes, and occasionally go on a weird, magical adventure with Jake and Vespi. A good chunk of this first half of the chapter is showing that Marvelous Man has "won," having gotten everything he wants, but despite that, the kids have managed to come out of things okay. Things were rough but they've made it through.
Kinda all I got, just wanted a few pages displaying the situation as things are now. ^^
...honestly I don’t get why Val is making such a big deal about wanting to use science over magic. Whatever works for her works. Especially since I agree that science meshes better with my present (though potentially flawed and incomplete) understanding of her powers. Hell of all of them science meshes BEST with her!
Grant and Nicky tell Gravity and conservation of mass to kiss their butts all the time. Lore and Jenny’s strength and speed are beyond natural for their bodies, even taking Jenny’s legs into account. Andy...is a monkey without a tail, and less hairy. And who knows what the future has in store for how their powers may develop.
But Val is for all scientific purposes, a living rechargeable battery that builds its own energy over time and can absorb power from other sources. Science and physics actually do add up well with her abilities as they presently stand.
Heh.... Actually didn't mean to have Val be that negative on the whole thing; was meaning to just have her not see what appealed about it to everyone else. I just like the idea of her being the technically-minded one of the group, like a budding science nerd. ^^
Looks like Jake might actually start finding a use for some of the stuff he's accumulated over the years, the kids have made it through the rough patch and they are all the stronger for it.
