Everybody called it, so no sense in playing it as a surprise. ^^

One thing we wanted to highlight was that Lore WAS genuinely being bratty toward Protocol and the Peacekeepers; that was intentional to show she's still got a bit of an inferiority complex from the Marvelous Man arc, and is thinking the worst of new heroes that pop up. It felt natural for her to still have some issues there, especially since their credibility as heroes is directly tied to Jake being in prison.

It's a good moment where both sides have a point; Protocol's shut-down of the kids makes total sense. At the same time, I like Lore's justification for it in panel 5; from her perspective they've already been to hell and back and saved the city a couple of times by now, only for someone she's never met or heard of to tell her everything she's gone through in the last arc wasn't good enough.

That said, Protocol's dialog in the second panel was Martin's idea. Since we were still spooked fans wouldn't like her, he suggested putting in lines about how she's totally open to the kids becoming heroes when they're old enough (again, contrast with Marvelous Man who illogically threatened to block them for doing just that). Was really a good idea, since she needed to be softened a bit after the last page.

For the record, Telegirl's being 16 and barely old enough to do her job, contrasting the Blues kids being too young but way more experienced and competent was put there when we were going to make Protocol more antagonistic. It was supposed to make her look like a hypocrite. I like that in moving away from that direction with the character, it was super-easy to give her a justification for it; Matilda's not breaking any laws.

You might notice this page was done before the last filler was, in that we hadn't quite ironed out how to do side profiles with the new eye style yet. The next page has that issue corrected, actually need to get that colored later on this evening.

But yeah, originally the Spencer thing was going to be a bit more drawn out, but we figured whatever, it was obvious so might as well lean into it now. Or rather we were thinking that awhile ago given we had a reference to Spencer on the chapter's cover.

All I've really got but do hope that everyone enjoys.

I’m wondering how to spin hero academy to parents who don’t want there kids to be heroes. They need a temporary guardian to sign off on them being allowed licenses instead of a parent due to their age.

I’m reminded of another comic that wasn’t sure how to deal with various eyes and masks types combinations so right from the start made the decision not to draw eyes on anyone. Glasses or masks, sure, but not eyes.

III feel a bit weird about that comparison, but thank you? ^^ Do you like the new eye style?

In the sixth panel you misspelled Spencer, very interesting, wonder what's going to happen next.

Thinking that was intentional- being that Nicky was typing it.

Yeah, Nicky's messages tend to have a lot of typos. ^^

I called itttt!

Everyone’s favorite billionaire villain for fun! Or at least mine. The one person with the resources (in their world/dimension), and moral ambiguity to actually help! I’ve been saying it since forever ago and am glad they are finally going to talk to him!

So I shall begin a little happy gloating dance even if he refuses to actually help! He probably will help, I mean he kinda gave them their version two suits so I think we can say he supports their efforts, but even if he doesn’t, I still called it and earned this gloating dance!

Come on, man- everybody saw it coming. No need to gloat about common knowledge.

Then we should all enjoy a gloating dance! Gloating dance party!

Yeah, Protocol isn't coming off mean or demissive. She comes off as her job is policy enforcement, not policy setting, and would see it a type of corruption for her to make her own policy exceptions. While her earlier TV interview she Disagreed with Alex they should granted licnes, and wouldn't support a campaign to chain the rules to allow it. but other other hand she wouldn't oppose such a rule change either if made
