Hey, what better way to end one year and start the next than with Blue Blood Heroes? ... If you have better ways we'd rather not hear them.

Yeah, this was kind of slamming on the gas to get through the rest of this scene without much delay; this conversation will probably end up being continued or at least summarized in the next chapter, as from here on we're back to focusing on Rick since this chapter really is more his story than it is the kids. Only a handful of pages left given that, maybe about four-ish but only the next one's actually been scripted to this point so it's kind of hard to put an exact number on it.

That's kind of a funny difference between Wright as Rayne and Blue Blood Heroes; Blues there is a definite plan in place but the actual scripting tends to be very close to the chest. WaR by comparison is usually a good bit ahead of schedule; I've never actually run out of scripts on it and at the moment I not only have the entire next chapter written but also several pages on the one after it. Guess it's just kind of a difference in style between us, though also Adam kind of just keeps busier than I do.

Either way, lot of gags I like in this page; Wilma's heart rate, her looking all angelic, and stuffing Oz in her pants (which I believe was my idea) are all definitely highlights, but also like Marina dragging Grant away (Adam will likely have more to say about that aspect) and Rick and Star's bad lying in the second panel.

Funny, occurs to me the kids and Rick's crew never actually got acquainted in this chapter; guess that provides a decent hook for a future story with them then. Funny enough we know exactly when this group's going to show up again but they probably still won't be able to really bounce off the kids all that much in it.

Heheh.... Yeah, I blatantly needed to get Rick out of the casino scot-free here, which... was pretty overwhelmingly difficult given everything that had happened thus far. I really try to make sure the way the legal system is used in the comic makes sense, but I'll admit there's some intentional ignorance here to keep Rick from leaving the building in hand-cuffs. I think accidental explosions or expositions of super-powers might be excusible in some cases if there's no damage to life or property (or if the property-owner declines to press charges) if it can be reasonably proven the user had no control over his ability. .... Am I thinking too much about this?

The other issue of letting Rick leave scot-free, meant that it would've made Protocol look like an idiot. Instead I had her use the situation to her advantage by using this as a way to investigate Star and look into his premises. I like the idea of making her look super-competent at her job and clearly knows what she's doing.

Meanwhile, Lore, having just had a lot of bad experience with Marvelous Man and feeling like she's unappreciated after all the bad things that happened to her after the last arc, has been acting pretty bratty to Protocol. I think it's sort of reasonable for Lore, but I also like that Protocol is being professional and trying to overlook it by being the bigger man. ^^

Eh, whatever, like Martin said, the gags are really what make this page. ^^ I was sort of intimidated at having to create a HUD for Protocol, but I had a lot of fun with it. The heart-monitor thing is a really classic big of super-hero-ism, and makes for a great loony-tunes era gag with Wilma. In general Wilma is great for gags in this one. I cracked up a few different times drawing her. ^^

Grant being pulled along by the ear was something a reader suggested happen in WaR, so was cute to have it happen here. ^^

This is all you're seeing of the kids for the rest of the chapter.... This entire thing has been very non-sequiter-y, but the rest of this arc is very centered on progressing the plot, so we sort of wanted a breather from that. Kinda go into that more soon, but Mr. Star and Rick will make returns in future chapters. Mr. Star as a villain, and Rick as a.... person of interest, I think. ^^

I'm talking like the chapter's over, but Martin's right, we've still got a few pages left. See you in the finish line, folks~

..... Heheh. Okay, I just remembered, Protocol's HUD lists her shieldings identically to the Health indicator in Metroid Prime. I guess she's a Metroid fan. ^^

Leave the kids alone why don't you and looks like Rick figured out how his witches spellcasting works, what in the world is going to happen next.

Yeah, we tend to picture Grant as being pretty weightless when he's floating so he's probably just being effortlessly dragged along like a balloon.
