Heheh... Yeah, in the last chapter when Protocol was struck on the head and began singing Pony songs, we got at least one message sent to us asking why she was a Pegasister. First of all, I think "Brony" is a gender neutral term but still.
Yeah, kind of the general idea for Protocol was that she'd have a soft spot for My Little Pony, since part of her dynamic with Lore was inspired by Trixie and Twilight. We haven't really seen much of Protocol's personality yet, so this was a nice way to let her pop a bit. Hopefully that'll come up more in the next chapter.
Of course, the way the hair looks is the big appeal here. Martin used this experiment with a new manner of doing the hair detail and shines, and just looks awesome. Sadly this is too time-consuming to use regularly, but just looks awesome. Will let him go into more detail but just looks great. ^^
Yeah, kind of been a gag in mind for awhile that Protocol's also an MLP fan, think just feels like a goofy quirk for the kind of character she is and it helps put her and Lore in greater contrast. This was really done awhile ago as kind of just screwing around between us but we figured it'd function well for filler so here it is.
On the hair thing, yeah, I want to do it in the comics but I'm really not very sure it's viable to do full-time; I do want to mess around with incorporating it into a page proper and I don't think it'd be too time-consuming to do it with a page consisting of five or six characters, but then you get something like an upcoming Blues one that has 14 distinct people in it, most of them in more than one panel, and it'd just turn into a huge slog to do. To say nothing of if we do another page like that one in the last chapter with like 30 characters in it.
Eh. Either way, next chapter begins on Saturday. Be sure to swing by for the beginning of chapter 25, Blue Blazes!
