Finally we're back to the real heroes - those random people the Peacekeepers beat up!
Funny thing, this page actually went through a bit of editing relatively last minute to keep our view of this character obscured - originally we got a direct look at their face in the last panel, but it was decided it worked better obscuring it for the time being so the panel was redrawn. Got a moment in mind for later; not that it's going to be some shocking reveal that blows everyone away or something but just narratively it makes more sense to put them in the shadows right now.
Beyond that this one doesn't really give a gigantic amount to comment on but I hope everyone enjoys. We'll be back to focusing on the kids come Saturday, thanks for bearing with us during the whole weird diversion things went on for a bit.
Heheh... Yeah, like Martin said, this was going to end with bluntly revealing who the villain of this particular chapter was. I had the idea built up for a while going itno this chapter and thought revealing it here would be really awesome.... Then Martin pitched an idea for a reveal later in the chapter that was way more effective, and went back to cover this up.
I did leave a lot of this mystery figure visible though, so I'm not gonna be shocked it anyone just immediately tells us who they are. ^^
That said, while it doesn't reveal our mystery villain, it does help re-establish something important; namely that Sapphire City still has a ton of super-heroes running around who are untrained and don't entirely know what they're doing, and that while some are deterred by a simple arrest, others are still going. I know that's already been shown in earlier chapter, but this particular chapter will bring that to the forefront, so just wanted everyone reminded of it straight on.
This group was scene back in What Can I Do For Blue; they're called the Four Horizons; Black Storm, who could control the weather, Red Sun, who could shoot fire, Green Mountain, who could control plants, and White Moon, who could control water. This group was.... basically created to get wrecked by this villain. Not gonna lie.
Honestly, the reason White Moon is the one to come to her senses and bail was because I really loved her design. She was easily the best one to draw, so I got her out before the implied-death of the other members. She's Rei Ayanami, by the way; that was her main influence for art. The others were Geras, Bolin, and Asuka Soryu.
Speaking of which, while you can't see a good zoomed out shot of it, Red Sun's motorcycle is transparently based off Kaneda's bike from Akira.
God, love that shot in the first panel; with the city in the background.
